Sweet catch, AZ/DC. Fixing that right now.
Also, good on you for keeping your ass from being nailed to the wall.
May 28th is on Tuesday. If his birthday is Thursday, that would be on the 30th. I happen to know this because my ol' lady's birthday is on the 28th and if I'm 2 days late, well, that would be my ass.
I would've never imagined this even if I had lived for thousands of years. SonoranWinds took the words right out of my mouth.
I don't see Girl You Want, Freedom of Choice, Satisfaction, Peek-a -Boo or Turnaround mentioned. SpudBoy my ass.
I am SHOCKED!
I first saw Tiger when I went to the Tap Room with my dad to take a few dollars to some old cowboys he knew that were "retired" and living in the downtown hotels. That was the late 50s. Tiger made me a Roy Rogers with extra cherries and won my heart.
Well, for once, I'm happy that Gov. Brewer is in office! At least she's more sane than the likes of Senate President Andy Biggs and his ilk. She also knows how to play "hard ball" with the senate nutjobs...
I sent the following letter to the Speaker, with copies to Reps. Mendez and Smith yesterday. So far no responses.
Dear Mr. Speaker,
I've just read a front page story in this morning's Arizona Daily Star and I can't resist the urge to comment, even though I've not had the experience of sitting in the House while prayer is being offered.
If prayer is to be a routine part of the opening of a meeting of the body and all members are invited in rotation to offer the prayer, it would seem that Representative Mendez was acting appropriately in praying in his fashion. Whether quoted in full or in part by the reporter, Mr. Mendez's effort would pass muster with me as a prayer. But of course your House may have at some time stipulated a definition of prayer or a syllabus of acceptable prayers and perhaps Mr. Mendez has not been around long enough to have been introduced to such aids to the production of an Arizona House of Representatives prayer.
Mr. Mendez might have opted out of his place in the rotation, he might have said he doesn't believe in prayer, he might even have introduced legislation to ban the offering of prayer at the opening of House sessions. He did none of these things. He prayed.
Mr. Smith might have listened holistically rather than selectively to Mr. Mendez' prayer. He might have listened and cogitated the prayer's recommendation to dedicate himself to the common effort to improve the lives of the people of our state. Instead, he chose to focus on the absence of a reference to a Supreme Being. Much as I might wish his listening were less selective, that was his choice. I have difficulty, however, with his attack against a fellow member and his apparent violation of protocol in offering a prayer of repentance the following day.
The article makes no mention whether Mr. Smith had asked and received leave of the Speaker before praying against Mr. Mendez or whether he was totally out of order, or perhaps there is some third possibility which doesn't occur to me. If Mr. Smith acted without your leave, Mr. Speaker, I think he should be rebuked. If he had your permission, I wonder how you justify your decision.
I've written as one who has a nodding acquaintance with a Creator of the universe and some experience praying and leading gatherings in prayer and I can with little hesitation endorse the prayer offered by Mr. Mendez and question whether the term 'prayer' is appropriately associated with the remarks of Mr. Smith.
God be with you all.

Kate Brophy McGee gets hate mail and its racism? Everytime I start time I start to think the Republicans are nuts with a knee jerk response to everything, a liberal kicks me in the butt.
Kudos to these creative young adults for their ingenuity and perseverance! This mine is the project of a Canadian multi-national corp. that will only bring destruction to our beautiful area. The Corporation will profit immensely and leave devastation in its wake.
Thanks David!
It isn't racism, it's stupidism and it's been infecting the State Legislature for years and years.
She should have vetoed everything that has come out of the legislature for the last two years.
As a heterosexual Eagle Scout (1981) I applaud the Boy scouts of America for allowing openly gay boys to join the organization. In my days, there was gay Boy Scouts, they just remained "in the closet". Now it is time to allow for gay Boy Scout troop leaders!
Most of the bills were unconstitutional anyway. That's what our legislature does. Wastes time writing bills that will be litigated on our dime.
An inevitable and positive decision.
But I was amused by this: "...Scouting is a youth program, and any sexual conduct, whether heterosexual or homosexual, by youth of Scouting age is contrary to the virtues of Scouting..."
Does that "contrary" sexual (shudder!) conduct include masturbation?
The Cleveland Show isn't very good, so not much ov a loss (sorry Mr Lynch). The Family Guy and American Dad are funny and have every right to offend and/or upset any one they wish. You failed to mention that Mcfarlen was also on The Simpsons that very night.
Bwahaha! Yes, I'm an alum 87
Did Joan Rivers and Gary Busey mate?
Re: “Let's All Celebrate the 80th Birthday of a Tucson Institution: Tiger, of Hotel Congress's Tap Room!”
Life itself nails my ass to the wall on a daily basis. I don't need any extra nailing caused by forgetting something that a significant other considers important. It's called self preservation.
