Re: “Power and Money

How can you promote good education when we all see exactly how you act when you dont get your way? Think about it.

Re: “A Terrible Beauty

The 'devastation' is nothing compared to the real devastation that illegal aliens have had on America, Americans!

Re: “A Terrible Beauty

It isn't entirely accurate to state that there is no fence across the San Pedro. There is a fence, and the truth is that it is "semi-permeable". Sonoran pronghorn antelope are not jumpers and they cannot cross here (or anywhere along the border that I am aware of). It (the crossing at the San Pedro River) provides a single point of access for wildlife whereas they used to have hundreds/thousands of miles where they could cross freely. If you really want to know the reality of the situation, let me know. I have been there. I have pictures.

Re: “A Terrible Beauty

Friendship Circle is open every weekend by the Border Patrol. Its main mission there is to reunite families every weekend. They go above and beyond by opening a door twice a year and giving these families the opportunity to embrace. These are families that choose to stay in the US and can return to Mexico at any time. The Border Patrol allows a myriad of events ranging from bi national yoga to concerts and ted talks on federal property.

The infrastructure has improved the local economies and made the communities substantially safer. This is evident by the schools, parks, shopping mall, homes, and even an air terminal that did not exist prior to the infrastructure. Fencing was necessary because in 1986 San Diego hit a record high 628,000 apprehensions. Thanks to the infrastructure there has been a 96 percent decrease and communities are safer.

Re: “A Terrible Beauty

There's no fence across the San Pedro. Animals cross there all the time. They can also cross a few miles west through the Huachucas. No fence there, either.

Re: “It’s Open Studio Season!

"Corazn, a female from Sonora who was *poisoned and set afire* in a jaguar preserve."

It can be so hard to wrap my head around the fact that there exist human beings who would actually do this and that I am sharing the earth with them. What the hell?!!

Best of luck to the Sky Island Alliance.

Re: “Dance Unlimited

Lots of dancing going on as well at Tucson Eat Yourself. The UA Ritmos Latinos Dance Club will be on the Church Stage at 3 pm on Sunday, Oct 9. The will perform 3 "rueda de casino" dances. It's a Cuban style of dance performed in a circle with a caller. Steps are similar to Salsa dancing, but more circular in nature. Hope to see you there!

Re: “Dance Unlimited

You can WIN 2 Tickets to Twyla's performance. Just be the first to answer 3 of the 5 questions correctly on the Arizona Dance Coalition Facebook page!

Re: “The Dude Rules

"The Big Lebowski" is one of the many Coen movies who's lines are repeated regularly in our home. I think this is one exhibit we should see! "Donny, shut the F*#K UP!"

Re: “Fall Arts Preview: Theater

The Tucson Community Theater Company's performance of "The New American Candidate" runs for 3 weeks, not 3 days as the article states. Sept 14 through the 30th. Also, the writer had another typo, as "100 local talent" should be "100% local talent."

Re: “The Daughters

this is wonderful! how do we get in touch with the author to see if she'd be interested in an author's night with a arizona-based non-profit?

Re: “Dream Building

So proud of Mr. Almquist and the work he does, the work all our teachers do, in our community. Thank you, Art, for being a stellar example of the importance of teaching and the arts in our schools!

Re: “Dream Building

Too bad we don't have a HS Theatre month where all the drama departments compete with their best show. I had friends that invited us to a Desert Christian performance at TCC and it was phenomenal! Would be fun to showcase all this local talent.

Re: “Child’s Play

Nice picture guys. No framing, no interesting angle, no drama captured.

Jesus christ, it almost makes the article look good by comparison.

I assume the process went like this:

"Hey we have to write this article about this Live Musical or this Man-theatre or whatever... what do we do?"

"Easy, we don't talk to ANY of the students, take only one picture which shows off none of the things talked about by the single person we'll ask about any of this."

"Well what's the point?"

"I dunno'. To be honest this is don't really matter none as we assume that it's been this way for years, and it's not like this is new or whatever."

"Couldn't we ask?"

"No, and shut up, I need to take the single picture we're going to use for this article. *snap* Okay, now we can leave."

Although I'm probably just salty as I'm not in it. [>:/

Re: “Dare to CREAM

In all seriousness I hope that C.R.E..A.M. is not legally protected because what these guys are doing is awesome. Tucson needs more people like this!

“Art is something that’s made to inspire the future. If you utilize somebody’s artistic expression blatantly, to [the point] where it’s an identifiable thing, then there should be some sort of compensation to the person who inspires you,” RZA (of the Wu Tang Clan)
