Re: “Vintage Vinyl

Thanks for a great article Lee !! I found a copy of the Johnny Rabbit single "Any Day Now", backed with "Candy Sea". There only a handful of those in existence. Rabbit does his poems to the jamming back up of the Frozen Sun. Coming soon... along with the very first recording by the Frozen Sun, " Got To Get Away"... which many feel is their most authentic recording... Frank Casanova

Re: “Noise Annoys

WOW just so sad for anyone to take their own life, its not that most people haven't had this thought sometime in life its the acting on it that SUX. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, I can say from my own experience that life does get better as long as you work towards that goal. Yeah, yeah I know first hand how bad emotional pain is, but getting out of myself and trying to be helpful in someway to other human beings will take a person a long way in removing pain and anguish. The person that dies pain may be over but now a new group of people are in pain due to such a selfish act chosen by the person that commits suicide.Reach out to someone you are only alone if you make it that way.... keep trying and never give up and you will reap the benefits of a good life by doing the work necessary. Even at its longest, life is a very short finite time that passes by much to quickly. RIP

Re: “Vintage Vinyl

Ellington in Tucson... oddly I ran across two other Tucson references almost at random; a mention in Behind the Shades Revisited of Dylan owning property here some time in the '70s (is that where Sir Paul got the idea from?) and Elvis Costello mentions hanging around Tucson for a while in his wonderful Unfaithful Music and Disappearing Ink.

Re: “Directions Not Included

The Silver Lady? Or do you mean the Silver Room? Where is the Silver Lady, if that is correct?

Re: “Too Much Junkie Business

And while Minneapolis is still a coked up city, there's now plenty of smack and oxycontin to fuel up against the winter's cold, and nod through the humidity of summer. Great read, the dried up memories of coping at 14th and Portland, the Minneapple's redheaded stepchild to 53rd and 3rd now coursing through my brain like a million other schemes routed through my time doing heroin, just like Johnny and Alex. You can't put your arms around a memory indeed!!!

Re: “Don't Forget the Coop

Eh, it wasn't meant to be a big deal. I just thought it would be fun trivia/gossip to find out, especially since I have some history with La Paloma and El Conquistador. You know, kind of like seeing an autographed photo of a cool celebrity at a restaurant you like.

I've been planning to come back to my hometown for a while now, so I won't be an "ex" much longer anyway. :)

Re: “Don't Forget the Coop

Why care about the golf courses?

Unless of "course" you're playing them in AZ.

But your username is Ex-Arizonan.

So, do you play elsewhere?

From what I understand, time permitting, Alice plays on a course in every city he visits.

It doesn't matter, Alice is still a worldwide phenomenon.

Not to mention an Arizona legend.

But I didn't mention that.

(Wink) ;o)

Well...why didn't you tell us what his favorite local golf courses are? We're all wondering!

Re: “Battle Acts: Sgt. Pepper Then vs. Sgt. Pepper Now

Hey Web Master (Chelo?) :

Why did the comment box toss out the emojis I included in my post script?

They aided in displaying my playful sarcasm.

I have included emojis in my commentary on previous posts and this didn't occur. Because of that, I shall include a generic old school emoji here. :(

Re: “Battle Acts: Sgt. Pepper Then vs. Sgt. Pepper Now

Regardless of what any Beatles fan, Beatles pessimist or someone who is in between thinks, this album will stand the test of time longer than any other Beatles album will...and it will stand that test longer than 99.9999% of any other album ever recorded. The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" and The Mothers "Freak Out" were definitely catalysts, but The Beatles made this approach to recording an album something all their own. This album is a HUGE milestone in the popular music and (no matter how much those who just can't see it will deny) rock n roll categories.

Personally, I don't favour any of the various mixes. I believe that they all have their charms. It's just another great excuse to listen to this excellent recording over and over again, comparing the different mixes which have been done over the years and the different formats on which they have appeared.

My biggest pet peeve is the fact that "Strawberry Fields Forever" wasn't originally included as part of the track listing. I say this because it is my favourite Beatles song and it is always in my rotating list of my top 5 songs of all time. George Martin has claimed that not including this track was the biggest mistake of his professional career. All I can do with that statement is concur.

Thanks for this fun article Serene!

P.S. - You never responded back to me when I commented on the Jingle Bell Shame article about the Roseanne Barr Christmas album. Wot up wit dat? DC

Re: “La-La Land

Love, love, LOVE this band. Found them last year when iHeartRadio suggested "Finally Free" based on my listening history. Shortly thereafter, they played a local radio festival, and I've been hooked ever since. Seeing them tomorrow night in Dallas with VIP passes. Honestly, the most genuine, sincere artists who really take time to get to know their fan base. Mixi is a sweetheart, and the guys are just truly awesome as well. They save kittens. 'Nuff said.

Re: “The Theory: The Theory (Self-released)

Actually, keyboardist Jon Powell hails from England, so that makes for four cultural ingredients in this "salad bowl" (not melting pot) of a band.

Not bad, it sounds like an attempt at early 90's hip-hop like Guru's Jazzmatazz
