Re: “Legal Education

Comment by C C. (cjosea1010)
I too was fraced by a simular situation as Kelly Munsell. My issue was at the same school in 2004. I can totally relate to Kelly Munsell. She is a good person with much to offer students. I worked with her for many years. My situation was before hers and it too was swept under the rug. I alomost lost my job. Attorney General was of no help what so ever and I never had a lawyer. I too had a problem with my wrist and was sent in for a "fit for duty" exam that came back the same as Kelly Munsell's. This is the way of TUSD. When someone knows to much or becomes a threat this is the path that TUSD takes to get rid of it.... I was under the administration before the one that is there now. My principal is at a different school now. I know one other person who went through the same thing with the same principal as me with yet another wrist problem. She too lost her job and was forced to transfer to a different school. If they dont like you they get rid of you. It has nothing to do with what a good employee you are.

Re: “Sparks Flying

What a frightful thing to have gone through, and survived! 480 volts? Their management appears to be trying to cover up big time... I wonder how much more we don't know. What type of overspending is getting their water district so deep in debt? I'll bet the non-management employees past and present could tell us a lot more about what is going on at this sketchy operation. This guy had guts to come forward, sounds like they will say anything to discredit him now.

Re: “Sparks Flying

Fact checker - Hemway appealed to the Board for whistleblower protection and received notice that he was fired the next day, not before. I was present at the Board meeting and no one present from management said anything about his being terminated.

Be advised also that General Manager Mark Stratton's rebuttal to Hemway posted on the Metro website September 7 was rewritten on September 11.

Also, as the primary author of that article, facts were checked and re-checked. Indeed, when Abbe Melissa Goncharsky, Metro Water's attorney, called me this morning the only "fact" in question was that her call to me stating that Stratton and Hill had "no comment" was left out of the article. Actually it was in there but hit the cutting room floor at the last minute, probably due to space problems. Stratton and Hill never did return my calls.

Ms. Goncharsky wants a correction. I want accountability.

Re: “Sparks Flying

Was nearly killed, lost videos, wrong hoses, safety officer resignation, who is in charge at Metro Water District and have serious crimes been committed there? Who is to provide whistle blower protection anyway? Was he really fired on the same day their board met? A coincidence or a criminal act? Metro Water's Website leaves more questions than answers. Something definitely fishy to me about this whole thing. Where are the cops?

Re: “Murky Matters

Whistleblower Donovan Hemway should not have been fired to begin with, he has always been a safe honest hard worker. Janet Gallup was an excellent dedicated safety officer. We should know, we worked with them for over 5 years. The wrong ones got fired, will Metro Water ever begin to do what is right?

Re: “Sparks Flying

As a district customer I found the Metro website comments first, it wasn't enough just to fire Mr. Hemway, Mr. Stratton used four pages to malign him publicly in every way. Accident my azz, it's clear to me they intended to hurt him and are still trying. He should sue the bastardz for defamation of character and who knows what else! Poor Ms. Goncharsky is either working for the wrong client or she is giving the world's worst legal advice.

Re: “Here Today, Gone Tamale?

City needs to get their act together and settle all of this. Not fair to the businesses to have to hang on, paying costs of buildings they can't sell and having to absorb the costs of relocating. It isn't just the land, but considering the consequences of delayed action.

Re: “Sparks Flying

I ran for the Board last year with the intent of my way of giving back. There are so many things wrong with Mark Stratton's hold on Metro Water. I tried avenues through the State, local media, neighbors. I resigned as it was a battle I couldn't win. I am just so happy to see the Weekly ran this article. And very pleased to see it revealed that Mark and Chris own another water company. Also would like to see more discussion on why the debt has not been refinanced.

Re: “Growing Pains

They can try saying it's not student housing, but "prices of $750 to $900 per studio" in Tucson are definitely for those whose rents are paid by Mommy & Daddy California.

Re: “Growing Pains

Sigh. Tucson needs affordable housing for the downtown area, no question. Student housing on 4th Ave? Not so much. Anyone want to take bets on how long it will take for the majority of property owners on 4th Ave to sell to developers? Hello, Mill Ave. Goodbye, historic and funky Tucson.

Re: “Stealth Campaign

Typical Republican dirty trick-- run a stealth campaign pretending to be your Dad And how can a candidate provide ZERO information to the public about himself? What a scam.

Re: “Families Torn Asunder

Thank you for your crucial reporting on this horrific situation. What kind of a country forcibly separates asylum seekers from their children, and treats them so cruelly? How has the party of "family values" and pro-life" become the party of torturing children? How about a follow up story on the history of decades of U.S. support for violent, unjust regimes in Central America, which created the conditions people are now fleeing?

Re: “Murky Matters

Have those responsible at Metro Water been fired yet and why not? They can't rehire Mr. Hemway until the bad apples in charge are gone, otherwise the same managers will retaliate again and use more ratepayer monies for the legal defense of their wrongdoing. What does that Foulk and the other board members have to say about this shameful situation and why do they choose to look the other way? It doesn't appear to matter to this board of directors, they don't pay for the corporate mismanagement and violating whistle blower laws, we do.

Re: “Murky Matters

Bob, for a better understanding see http://www.tucsonweekly.com/tucson/sparks-flying/Content?oid=3531049 Water, Electricity, and Cover-Ups don't mix. After a successful electrocution no medical leave would be necessary. Maybe Metro Water's supervisors and board members will get it right next time. When will they try to silence the Whistleblower again or start to remove those who tried to?

The only positive thing I can find about the entire Broadway widening project, if it moves forward, will be bulldozing the Starbucks at Broadway and Campbell. (Like there aren't enough of THOSE in Tucson.)

Re: “Lefty Appeal

I remember Ike. When he decided to run he had to pick, D or R. He was a slight right of center moderate. Today, he would be considered a flaming, off the chart, liberal. 50 years of right wing political talk shows and fox entertainment's addition have done their job, pushing the idea of where the centerline is, to the 75 yard line. The crazy left, like Bernie Sanders would have just been called a liberal in the 60's. Murkowski and Collins, to far left of the republican party are both to the right of Barry Goldwater. Funny how that happened.

Re: “Under Threat

I'm thinking it would be effective to sue this moron for damages and bankrupt him. If everyone he's attacked files suit, he would be forced to defend himself on all fronts and the legal fees could be enormous.

Re: “Families Torn Asunder

Regardless of your perspective on those wanting to enter this country, their CHILDREN have not committed a crime. Nevertheless, here we are, incarcerating children, separating them from their primal security, i.e., their parents, and keeping them, literally, in dog kennel cages. I don't care what you have to say about their parents --- can you truly be in support of a U.S. policy that is punishing children like this? Children are seeds. The numbers of imprisoned kids is not known to the public, but if it is a 2000 at this point (June 8, 2018), that is 2000 kids who are going to be psychologically damaged for life. That's 2000 human seeds that will grow up into effed up people who will mess the world up just a little bit more. *Have MERCY on children, no matter WHOSE they are.*

Re: “Donald’s Girl

In Supporting Donald Trump, the GOP has ignored the Welfare of our Country, putting Party Politics as their main Considerations!!! Why? So as to maintain the GOP Power and Privileged Positions in Government: at both the National and State Levels.

Only those who refuse or are incapable of a Critical Analysis of the Facts and the Actions of Donald Trump will deny that Donald Trump poses a threat to our Representational Democracy, Constitutionally Protected Freedoms and National Security. Donald Trump is Mentally Unstable, an Inveterate Liar, and a Bigot!!

The Candidacy of anyone who supports Donald Trump, at any level of Government, MUST be rejected.

Re: “Growing Pains

If this is what the "Infill Incentive District" means, how about we just take 4th Ave. out of it and limit anything adjacent to 4th to three stories. Right at the beginning of the IID it states a purpose to "provide better neighborhood protection," and this is the EXACT opposite!
If you want to build in a "Warehouse Area," find an actual warehouse and replace it, not a functioning local business on Tucson's most unique street. And if it's student housing you want, keep it around the University and downtown; build your student housing elsewhere Memphis carpetbaggers!
