Re: “Question of the Day: Jon Justice Facebook Edition

How do you fight back against this kind of crap? Railing against this idiot won't hurt him. The more you point out his stupidity the more his audience loves him. One word: Advertisers. Contrary to his lofty opinion of himself he really has one job: sell advertising. If you want to hurt him, find out who his sponsors are are make it a point of telling them you won't do business with them as long as they support him. His audience is very small and radio advertising is not that powerful so if business paying big bucks for spots on his show finds it's hurting them they'll dump him in a heart beat and put their marketing dollars some place less obnoxious. So tune him in and start taking notes then take action.

Re: “Militarizing Cities, Criminalizing Schools

Mr. Arce:

"I am employed by school systems all over the country, as a professional educational consultant"

A consultant is someone YOU pay to use YOUR watch to tell YOU what time it is! I have NO love for consultants of ANY kind as the use of these so-called professionals is an admission that you don't know how to tell time!

Re: “Whither Michelle Rhee? Whither K12 Inc.?

Gregory, the online schools work fine. I know at least one graduate. They are a fine alternative for someone who wants the school curriculum but doesn't think their child is a fit for a standard institutional school.
Both government schools and private schools are the problem. The entire Prussian educational model is broken as is the disciplinary environment. The public/private/charter divide is just a bunch of people arguing about how to re-arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Re: “Arizona's Economic/Education Divide

Frank, it should be, "Two other factors you don't mention are intelligence and values.", not, "Two other factors you don't mention is intelligence and values.", which is what you wrote.

Re: “Linda Ronstadt Not a Fan of Downtown These Days

The only thing I agree on is yes, the city of Tucson (aka town clowncial) has given open season to developers with many historic buildings in Tucson city limits, the UofA is not much better. Tearing down historic buildings to build parking garages and as for the gay part she can stay in sanfransico.

Re: “Linda Ronstadt Not a Fan of Downtown These Days

Linda, if you're so afraid of your children being exposed to opposing opinions, you will have to home school them (I wouldn't be surprised if you already do). Then, when classes are done for the day you can just lock them up in a closet. That way, they will never be exposed to horror stories such as the possibility that there just might be a God.
Don't you realize that you are subjecting your kids to censorship just like many other beautiful countries in the world such as China and North Korea ? What a dolt !

Re: “Linda Ronstadt Not a Fan of Downtown These Days

If she did attend church with her children who are now grown anyway they would have learned tolerance. She's a fallen away Catholic. Linda, the church will always welcome you back with open arms. The doors are always open. You should open your mind more.

Re: “Question of the Day: Jon Justice Facebook Edition

Comedians peddle humor, right wing hate mongers on radio waves peddle right wing hate, racism, bigotry, etc., doubt the two mix well but guess humor to racists likely runs to the dark side of some folks human nature!;-) The good thing nationally GOP registers 32% of the electorate, Arizona it runs about 34% thank god imagine if they had a true majority of 50.1%!

Re: “Question of the Day: Jon Justice Facebook Edition

Less than 300 votes on this comment, wonder how hard Jon Justice worked to get his fans to this site to counter the negative view of his comments?:-) In a city of 500,000 plus, with a democrat majority electorate he and his backers have been unable to turn this area in southern Arizona to the dark side/GOP ruling class, demographics is working against him and his ilk! He was on television for a time, peddling his right wing hate in visual form and his hyena laugh did not do the ratings much good I guess since it is no longer on air! Racists expose themselves by what proceeds from their mouths, written words, no one needs to call them one!

Re: “Arizona's Economic/Education Divide

Frank most of the high poverty areas are rural or in the South Tucson area not central Tucson. I don't think anything at all was mentioned about raising income. I agree that specifics were not given about how to address this issue, but it is important to communicate that what is currently being done as far as school improvement plans and putting the majority of blame on the teachers is not working. Only then can a solution be found that may work to solve the problem. Intelligence varies greatly as I am sure you are aware. That does not mean that only the brightest have the potential to learn and to be successful. As far as values, well, that is a very subjective topic in and of itself.

Re: “Linda Ronstadt Not a Fan of Downtown These Days

Linda does not know her city very well. The majority of people are registered Democrat, more than 10 percent than Republicans. And to say that Tucson was like Mexico when she lived there is ludicrous. What drugs does she use? Also when Stalin was in power, his country was called the Soviet Union not Russia. I can see why she has faded into obscurity.

Her architectural criticism is right on about almost all of the "new Urbanism" in downtowns all over the seven Western States

I met him at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser years ago. I spent a good half hour with him and was impressed by his love of life and outgoing personality. His artwork was vibrant and mirrored his personality. He made a big impression on me and and my husband. Sadly, we learned that he lost his daughter in a car accident. RIP Howie. You will be missed.

Re: “Linda Ronstadt Not a Fan of Downtown These Days

Just remember, Linda returned top Tucson bought a home in Midtown, then claimed she was close to DM, ranted about the people in Tucson, and what Tucson had become. I guess she forgot Tucson was turned the shithole it is because the far left liberal Democrats have squandered millions and want more. Linda is useless and does not represent Tucson nor does her whining nonsense.
