Would recommend this restaurant to anyone based on two main observations.
1. Charming atmosphere and superb service.
The server was attentive and very helpful. He answered all questions that I had and was overall very knowledgeable regarding the food that was being served.
2. Food far surpassed my expectations.
The dinner salad was light and refreshing and portioned to be the perfect amount where I didn't feel that I had eaten too much when I had finished while still leaving me ready for the main course.
The Lasagna was superb and came with ample supply of delicious marinara sauce. I'm told that it weighs in nearly close to a pound. I was happily able to take half of it home with me as I look forward to finishing it for dinner.
Plate presentation was excellent as well. Things looked to be placed in specific locations to make the dish more appetizing unlike other restaurants who just throw it together and serve it out.
Overall, I rather enjoyed my experience and look forward to returning in the future.
Me & my ol' lady went to the Monterey Court Cafe for breakfast on a Saturday morning and we both decided to get the Monterey Breakfast (burrito), mine served w/ the seasonal fruit and her's w/ the southwest potatoes. What a great choice we made, everything in this burrito seemed to compliment each other; plus the pico de gallo on the side was beyond fresh. It may seem expensive @ $7.95 but believe me, I was convinced that when I saw the size of this thing that I would be taking some of it home. That didn't happen. It was so good that my gluttonous side kicked in & I devoured the monsterous sized thing. Delicious food, great service & a very casual atmosphere. We will be returning in the near future to try some of the other delectable sounding items on the menu. Highly recommended!
The menu items are really good. I wouldn't recommend the buffet though.
Run of the mill food, overcrowded, barely fair to poor service, decent prices.
This is my neighborhood mexican joint and I go here at least 3 times a week. It never disappoints. A favorite is the bacon, egg and bean burrito without cheese or potatoes but I love the carnitas, carne asada, papas tacos, ceviche. You name it. You can ask for substitutions in all your burritos. I went on a burrito tour of a mile wide area and this is the BEST. I love their spicy salsa.
yes last time i went staff was unfriendly
but breakfast for me and wife was $8.00
best deal in town
Absolutely phenomenal place to go hang out and eat a pie or two. (And this is coming from an East Coast transplant pizza snob) Love the italian pie, and the pepperoni pizza, while a generic choice, is the best pepperoni pizza I have ever eaten in AZ.
The beer is ice cold too, and they have sports on the flat screen.
Why wait for an hour to get into GG, when this place is right next store?
If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. I've been to this restaurant four times with others who are extremely fond of it, but I find the food tastes bad and looks bad too. In addition, I would ask them how they prepare a dish before you rate this as healthy food. My last meal I had them prepare the tofu/broccoli dish with a Mongolian sauce. The tofu was overcooked and had a strange taste, the sauce had the consistency of water, the broccoli wasn't even warm so it was basically raw in terms of crunchiness. When I asked them how it was prepared, I was told that the "tofu is deep fried before it is added to the dish." Deep fried tofu in a sauteed vegetable dish is not healthy, obviously. I don't understand why this restaurant gets a great rating every year and why they claim to be healthy Chinese food. If you want something much better and healthy, try Asian Bistro at Ft. Lowell and Campbell. The Mongolian Tofu is AWESOME, as is the rice noodles and vegetables dish with a name that escapes me.
Unfortunately this restaurant has closed.
Excellent phos and other Vietnamese foods. Fast and friendly service as well. I always try to eat at Halong Bay whenever in Tucson.
This is our second review - see 2011 review. Service continues to be a major issue at Opa. I asked twice for a drink refill. Put it this way. I ended up leaving my seat and walking over the beverage fountain to refill my glass myself. Awful! The free humus they give you remains very band too. But for five bucks the gyros during lunch are a deal. But don't add fries or a salad b/c you won't need all that extra food. Plus your five dollar meal will turn into an eight or nine dollar lunch.
Best Chicken Parmesan and Italian Wedding Soup in Tucson. ;-)
I forgot to add a rating to my review a moment ago.
I wanted to like this place, the location is handy. But the food was not all that good. The lemon chicken soup I thought was canned because the carrots were mush, the chicken seemed canned, but the pleasant waitress wearing a see-through Grecian chiffon dress that showed off her heavily tattooed body (but she had to wear white hose to cover her tattoed legs because the boss didn't like tattoed legs,) and tiara on her head told me it was made fresh, but it didn't have any flavor. The boss is absent, the plan for an organic farm fell through although there are signs advertising the non-existent farm as providing organic food and goat milk and cheese for the restaurant, and one wonders if this restaurant will stay in business. With good management it could do well. The owner is indeed a fat Greek, he must weight 300 pounds and I am wary of dining in a place where the owner is so obese as it means the food is not healthy. I like Greek food, but have not found a Greek restaurant in Tucson as good as Athens of Fourth downtown but they are not open for lunch.
They have a great Karaoke on Thursday nights. Good service, good prices.
Outstanding. Quick, inexpensive, good flavors.
This is by far my favorite thai place in Tucson. Yes, the service is not the best, the restaurant is often closed on random days and it's a little run down but the food is well worth it. Also, the lunch buffet is great and inexpensive.
No new reviews so i thought I would post one.
Friday has perennial 80's and G. Cover charge and packed. Saturday night ; no cover smaller crowd and sometimes very good bands (Giant Blue, etc). Definitely the night to go. Mixed crowd with many older people looking for hookups (well it's true). Drinks are very reasonable for Foothills, food good. Bartenders are nice and fast
VOTE SHER-E-PUNJAB #1 RESTAURANT IN THE CITY OF TUCSON!!!!!!!! IT DESERVES IT!!!:)
Re: “Bianchi's”
Oh my gosh. Blah-anchi's. Crap-anchi's. No, really. My husband had the meatball sandwich and I have the lasagna. Yuk! So flavorless and blah. We could be wrong but from the looks of their pizzas, we suspect they are on par with what you might get at a school cafeteria.
