Pretty boring. We missed the first band, so I can't comment on them, but the Electric Blankets were just loud and unimpressive, and Hairspray... was louder and even less impressive. The singer's voice is terrible, and he and the bass player seemed totally wasted. The other guys just looked bored or annoyed. At least the guys in Electric Blankets looked like they were having fun, not on some break from rehab. We gave up after a few songs and went to Mr. Heads.
What percentage of money goes to benefit Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse and what percentage goes to the Brady Campaign who has an F charity rating from the BBB?
Not horrible or anything but not that great either. We can only handle about one set of their show. Anymore and we start to get bored.
A great idea, from a great organization... that was a sad disappointment!
Instead of taking advantage of this great opportunity to showcase 9-Queens' fabulous work , this Fest was so disorganized that it hurt. It seems everybody was trying their best, but starting with pairings taking hours, the lack of shaded space (or space altogether!), a knockout tournament (why not a Swiss, if what you want is to promote people playing?) and an big slip behind on the whole activities' schedule, this was not what we expected it to be. Even the location (Hotel Congress terrace seems already too small for such an event) might be better switched over to a place like the U of A mall (where 9-Queens showed us they know how to organize things with their presence in the Book Fair) or Reid Park. It seems that both women and children won't be the most benefited from what happened this weekend.
Of course, we will continue being BIG fans of 9-Queens.
Great selection of songs but poor sound. They need to step it up a bit and invest some money. Could use more practice to tighten things up.
Stereotypes abound in spite of very committed performances that do not life this over-rated play beyond the middle-brow.
Come and dance with Harry on Friday Nights. LOL Meet me and buy me a drink.
I agree. It was a bad show. We've been fans for a long time but this was our first time seeing her live. Big disappointment.
Her band sounded like Dick Dale's surf rock to me. What was that about?
The rant about the "rude" woman with her head on the stage was weird.
