Re: “Pinnacle Peak

Love this place. I have been coming here since I was a kid ( 30 + years sgo) Always great steak and beans. Pit beef is also excellent. My kids love the wild west show, train, and general store. My first choice for a steak dinner.

Re: “Panda Buffet and Sushi

Service and food is great. They go out of their way to prepare what you like if you don't see it on the steam tables. Going beyond the mundane Chinese dishes is where they shine. The oysters, escargot, variety of soups, sushi all are superbly prepared.
We have never found the food to be cold and certainly irt is full of flavor.
We go to their other restaurant in Green Valley-Sahuarita "Panda House Restaurant".
Sean, Tim, TuiLynn, Emma and all the staff are courteous and can explain everything fully if you qwant to know. We have been there a coulpe of dozen times and never disappointed.
We are from San Franciso and enjoy Chinese Food to its fullest.
P.S. We like it!

Re: “Magical Mystery Dinner Theater

This was a HILARIOUS show! Glad I saw it! I read some reviews beforehand and I was especially worried about the price. Turns out whoever wrote it was mistaken. For the price of the ticket, it was a great deal. The food was good and the show was "its-so-funny-I'm-crying" funny. There was also a lot of audience participation, which was very organic and fun to do. I'll admit that the show was a bit goofy, but that was the charm of it. The actors were perfect and seemed to enjoy performing it. If you want a serious production, this might not be for you. However, if you want to laugh at gags and have a fun time, this is the show for you!

Re: “Shogun Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar

"kimono-clad waitresses"???? who wrote that? It's dead wrong. Nonetheless, the food is great! Amazing portions, delicious, huge variety. I only wish they didn't close from 2:30 to 5:00. the wait staff is typically college students.

Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

No review, does anyone remember what this place was originally called. It was a almost fine dining restaurant with a intimate bar. I was a regular at Happy Hour in 94-95. Which probably explains why I can't remember the name.

Re: “Rainbow Jewelers

This truly is wonderful to see Rainbow Jewelers has been voted to be the Best Jewelry in Tucson because they REALLY ARE. That have been in Tucson so long and they are so honest. I;m glad to see Tucson consumers have voted right. The jewelry they have in the store is so wonderful and unique and high quality. The service is great and you know you are getting fine jewelry, great price along with great customer service. My husband bought so many wonderful gifts from Rainbow over the years. Michael has fixed so many repairs on my jewelry too. His wife is so talented and helps you with your designs too. What a a great couple and a beautiful store. Congrats to you guys!

Re: “Panda Buffet and Sushi

Second time I have tried Panda Buffet and second time disappointed. Most dishes were barely warm, the chicken dishes were certainly not tender. The Mee noodles were tasty but not too warm. both shrimp dishes I tried, honey shrimp and another were badly prepared and almost powdery in texture. The Hot and sour soup was hot in temperature and spicy enough but lacked much in the way of tofu and vegetables. Service was good and friendly without being intrusive. The first time I went there I had a similar experience and thought it must have been an off day but now after going there for another time has proven to be the norm rather than the exception.

Re: “Boca

Maria's Taco Salsas are pure magic they are so fresh and delicious, with creative ingredients. The place is small, yet a diamond with the best tacos in Tucson for this experienced gourmand of Mexican culinary delights.

Re: “Teresa's Mosaic Café

i started going to the mosaic when it was @ the SW cor. of silverbell and speedway. the wash behind the now P.O. and the fast food asian rest. is called the Mosaic Wash. Then for years we went to the NE cor. of silverbell and grant, and finally up on the hill behind mcd's. the service is worst, the prices went up, the portions went down, and when i got the abosolute wrong order, a chicken chimie intead of a veggie burro, and then took 20 minutes to change it. i complained. i called the owners son, who was managing, outside to complain in private. Next time it will be in the restaurant at full volume. He looked at me and said, "better luck next time."

Re: “East Coast Super Subs

My wife and I are from NJ and couldn't wait to try the Italian subs for dinner one night a few weeks ago. It was a big dissapointment. The rolls tasted like they were at least a day old. The cold cuts/provolone are not the best quality and sliced way too thick. The chopped, not sliced cherry peppers are soaked in way too much vinegar, to the point of drowning out the other flavors. There were no seasonings, like a dusting of oregano, and the oil seemed to be a cheap vegtable oil, not a decent olive oil. So...fuggetaboutit. Wouldn't make it in Jersey.

Re: “Hifalutin Rapid Fire Western Grill

Let me start where I am coming from. When HiFalutin first opened my wife and I went and had the most horrible experience: slow, bad service, cold food, sending it back twice, and horrible wait times, in a very noisy crowded atmosphere. Even talking to the owner about the issues seem to elicit a "Meh!" attitude. So bad we walked out after 2 hours and not paying.
Fast forward maybe 8 years and for some reason my wife got spammed on their email list. Communications ensued and we were offered a gift card in an effort to try them again. OK, so we thought as they were still around after 8+ years they must have some sort of following.
We decided to go there 5:30pm Monday, the 22nd of August with friends and it was like night and day. We had a couple of happy hour $3 appetisers and then I had the $17 top sirloin steak with the wife lashing out on the $25 filet, both were cooked exactly as we asked them to be and were very tasty. The sides were good and hot, as hot food should be. Our friends both had enjoyable chicken dishes.
The service was somewhat inattentive but absolutely nothing like the abysmal service just after opening.
Would we recommend them now? Certainly and I'll stop bitching to friends about how bad they were 8 years ago :-)

Re: “Stadium Grill

Things are really changing at Stadiums! A long time NW Tucson resident who used to drive downtown to hear live music now not only loving the last two weekend bands at Stadiums, but planning to bring friends! We have always had great service and I love the french fries...happy hour great with a new beer on special each month. But the last two weeks we all stayed for the band, they were a-w-e-s-o-m-e! Tuesday nights they have open mic which is a riot! I have heard some pretty lame bands here in the past - but that is definitely in the past! Stadiums is our new Friday night hang out!

Re: “Velo Specialties

I recently was looking for an entry level road bike to help me train for my first triathalon. I went to the usual stores....trek, fairwheel, etc.. and was pretty convinced i was going to purchase the trek 1.5. I was driving towards the trek shop and i noticed Velo specialties on the side of the road and figured i might as well stop on in. This was the best decision I ever made. Velo specialties is a real LBS. Paul (the owner) is a very genuine man, and exudes a passion for cycling that i have yet to find in any other store in Tucson. He loves his product and he knows it inside and out. I test rode a bianchi via nirone 7 tiagra and fell in love. However, i wanted to go back to trek and make sure i was purchasing the right bike. When i got to trek, they were having a year end clearance sale and I had the opportunity to buy a trek 2.1 for the same price as the bianchi. The trek was clearly the better buy, but i purchased the bianchi from Paul because he impressed me that much. He offers coaching, advice, personal service, and a relaxed and fun atmosphere at his shop. Even if you are new to cycling, have no desire or money to purchase a road bike, or any reason to even look for a new bike, GO TO VELO SPECIALTIES. It is a great atmosphere and everything a bike shop should be. Thank you Paul and all the staff for helping me get into the saddle, can't wait for my first race!
