I've eaten here with transplanted New Yorkers who thought it was very good and dined here with a Jewish friend who loved the matzoh ball soup as it reminded her of how her family fixed it growing up.
The pastrami sandwich is enormous and tasty. The free pickles to nibble on while waiting for the meal to arrive is also a nice touch.
Little hole in the wall that services alright food. We used a buy one get one free coupon here a few weeks ago. I might go back if we had another coupon.
No comparison to Feigs, tried it for the first time the other day. Lousy, had a roast beef san, meat was med/well, sliced too thick and tough, the kaiser roll was a supermarket mass produced burger bun. No mas, $8 is better spent elsewhere.
huge sandwiches. with that said - quantity rather than quality seems to be the goal here. i don't go there often but would go again.
Love this place! Been going for years. Fun hot wait staff, great drink specials and huge sandwiches and bread bowl soups. The outdoor patio bar is a great plus!
Went there for their Valentine's Special Dinner - amazing!
The food is very good and the portions are huge. The cramped space is balanced by friendly service & a neighborly effort to please.
The food here was about as 'ethic' as bratworst at a circle K.
I agree with the above. Shop at the ethnic aisle at your local store instead.
Overall this restaurant boasts a TASTELESS Menu!.
My first hint that this would not be a pleasant dining experience came when my so called cup of Matzoh Ball soup was sampled.
Ugh! In the cup was a tasteless broth with a few bits of chicken and vegetables.
The matzoh ball looked and tasted like a bleached out tennis ball.
Thank goodness I only ordered half a pastrami sandwich, nothing more than a thick portion of the meat jammed between two slices of rye bread.
One of my friends had to send back her chopped liver sandwich, because it tasted spoiled.
The only enjoyable feature of the dining experience was the very personable young woman who was our server.
Save your money by purchasing the real thing in the ethnic aisle at your local supermarket.
3 or so visits; will go again. Rundown:
+s
*OK beer tap selection, though would like to see more
*Solid bottle selection
*Huge, tasty sandwiches (veggie)
*Lots of TVs if you care to indulge
*Nothing fancy, though clean, atmosphere
-s
*No check splitting (they're adamant about it, see menu...)
Re: “Bison Witches Bar and Deli”
AWESOME! ALWAYS! Casual, busy, good lookin' staff, good beer selection, good food, good central location. Been a Tucson staple for a long time.
