Great margaritas, especially at happy hour. Love the fresh salsa, and the enchiladas de calabacitas are excellent!
The parking lot is overflowing every time I drive by, the secret must be out.
Had my daughter's birthday celebration at the Cup in April and as usual, we loved it! Great food, relaxed service and that great "downtown" experience!
Loved the beer, I don't understand what everyone's complaining about. It was great, and the service was top notch. The food was pretty good, but I thought the IPA was one of the best I've ever tried. Each to their own, I suppose.
Great place to sit and have a pizza. There used to be a really bad bakery in this location. The appetizers are incredible and the pizza sublime. We had the oven-baked garlic clove and it is incredible! I live in Phoenix and can't wait to get back there again.
Their desserts are amazing, and their specials will sometimes blow your mind. Their staff has always been very friendly every time I've gone in. To accentuate the laid-back atmosphere, they have games you can play, or you can bring your own. They also have a great selection of hot teas, along with the standard milk selection. Sometimes you have to wait a while to get a table, and sometimes it takes a little bit to get your stuff, but that's because they're always busy with people who know just how amazing they are.
Some dishes are a bit oily and they certainly don't use the best cuts of chicken or pork. You'll come across a little gristle here and there. Even so, this place offers some real tasty dishes. The curry is very good as are a few other items. Pleasant servers. Prices are very competitive too. With its few minor faults, this place remains one of the better Thai restaurants in town.
Pizza here is fantastic. Thin crust Chicago style. I love the turkey sausage he makes, and the shrimp and artichoke specialty pizza is delicious!!
Love Jax. It is one of our favorites on the the north side. Food is simple, relaxed and perfectly prepared every time. The quality is there on the plate! Brian is a sharp restauranteur and his focus on detail, quality and a truly comfortable atmosphere is what keeps us coming back again and again.
Nice staff, pleasant atmosphere, and surprising edible bar food. Worth coming back to. Thanks!
gone here many times and always enjoy it. Love the planked waldorf salad.
Yummy food, informal setting, loving vibe, and fantastic cheesecake. Hare Krishna!
I think the food is great. I especially like the Beef Shawarma and their salads.
This food is goooood! Excellent flavors, homey feel. Fun art interior.
Great old time Tucson place. Best Mexican chorizo I've ever had!
I love this little place. The chile rellenos are excellent. The soups, filling and tasty, are served with a choice of corn/flour tortillas. It's a family run business [no, I'm not part of the family]. I've been so often that I know them, tho! The pan dulces can be taken home and so can the soups. When you sit in the small dining area you are down in Mexico, as the lovely mural fills the wall with rural scences that include an active volcanco.
I agree with Arthur and Reuven, above; this is a very good Thai restaurant with some excellent dishes. My introduction to Thai food was in Thailand in the 1970's. It was "instant affinity". After that, I frequently sought out Thai places when visiting or living in major cities in the US and Europe, which often provided fine culinary surprises. In Tucson, however, I've been disappointed (including at the other restaurants mentioned in reviews here), despite this city's many other good ethnic (and other) restaurants, so I'm especially happy to report on our superb dinner tonight (November 5th, 2010) at Bai Thong. We odered the gai satay and papaya salad appetizers, Pad Thai and a fish curry. Each was delicious. The peanut sauce was thick and rich and the chicken well-grilled and tender. The papaya salad blended spicy and tart flavors expertly. The fish curry was subtly spiced with kaffir lime leaves and enough anise to round out the peppery coconut sauce without dominating the mix. And the Pad Thai was well blended and just tart enough to bring up the taste of each ingredient. Thai food can be heavy; this wasn’t. The pricing was reasonable, and our service tonight was quick, efficient, attentive, dignified and pleasant, including a lovely smile. The decor (if you radically shrink the space) is actually not unlike many restaurants in Asia (which doesn't tend to the highly atmospheric except for tourists and theater). And the music was thankfully quiet. I personally enjoyed the touch of Buddhist homespun philosophy and scenic photos under the table glass. All in all, Bai Thong treated us to rich, complex and luscious flavors and textures and to an enjoyable evening of great Thai food.
As good as it gets outside of the Windy City. Deep dish like it should be.
Must have been a bad day for darbone - I was there for dinner with two friends last Friday - 10-29 and had a WONDERFUL experience. Very attentive and friendly server, water served right after we were seated and the wine list offered. We split the very generous Caprese salad (no grey prosciutto here) which was wonderfully fresh right down to the very red and tasty tomatoes! We then split 2 pizzas - the Quattro Formaggi (wouldn't have minded just a TAD more cheese) and a special that night with sliced Italian sausage, red and green peppers, onions and lots of cheese. We were in no hurry as we were all catching up on each other's lives and never felt rushed at all. Finished the meal with one of their skillet cookies (chocolate chip with vanilla bean ice cream) and a white chocolate Pannacotta with blackberries. YUM! I know that the Dove Mountain VA has a larger menu but it was WAY too far for 2/3 of our group. We didn't feel cheated one bit by the Swan Road location! 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact that the cheese pizza needed more cheese!
I like it! Happy hour is great.
Re: “La Olla”
La Olla isn't your average run of the mill Mexican restaurant like all the others in town. So far we found their meals to be tasty with a slightly different flare to them. The refried beans are by far the best we've had in Tucson. Lunch prices are really cheap too. We're not saying we love everything here, the chili rellenos aren't great. Like most places, they're pretty small. But overall this place is a nice welcome.
