Kingfisher Turns 20
Kingfisher Bar and Grill, a Tucson gem, turns 20 years old on Sept. 1. In celebration of the anniversary, and as a thanks to its patrons, Kingfisher will be running specials from its original menu—at the original prices—for the entire month. Kingfisher, 2564 E. Grant Road, also is donating 20 percent of gross sales for the first 20 days of September to the Tucson Community Food Bank. Happy birthday, Kingfisher. We wish you many, many more years. Donna Nordin, former co-owner and executive chef of the now closed (but still beloved) Café Terra Cotta, has announced her series of intimate cooking classes. It's no secret that the restaurant business slows down in Tucson during the summer. Many local eateries like to take advantage of that fact and close for extended periods. Pillsbury Vineyards is hosting a harvest festival at its tasting room in Cottonwood on Sept. 1. The event will feature wines from the winemaker and host, Sam Pillsbury, available by the glass or bottle.
