CORNEL WEST SPEAKS. Dr. Cornel West, distinguished scholar, author and civil rights advocate, gives a free lecture at 4 p.m. Saturday, January 27, in the UA Student Union Arizona Ballroom. DISABILITY LAW. The Arizona Center for Disability Law hosts two public meetings to educate on disability issues in Tucson and Southern Arizona. Topics include inaccessibility to public places and unfair employment practices. The first meeting is from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, January 26, at Himmel Library, 1000 N. Tucson Blvd. The second meets from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, January 29, at the Oscar Yrun Community Center in Sierra Vista. LEGISLATURE 1996. The League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson invite the public to a breakfast with state legislators at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, at Quality Inn, 475 N. Granada Ave. Southern Arizona legislators will answer questions regarding various bills and proposals currently being considered by the Arizona State Legislature. Find out what Arizona voters can look for in terms of taxes, education, health programs and air quality. Cost is $12.50, $10 for members. Reservations required. No-shows will be charged. GREAT DECISIONS. Campaña del Rio Retirement Community host a series of study sessions on Great Decisions at 10:15 a.m. Fridays, beginning January 26 and continuing through March 15. TAX HELP. Applications for property tax assistance for qualified widows, widowers and disabled persons is taken by staff from the Pima County Assessor's Office from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, at Valencia Library, 202 W. Valencia Road; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, at Woods Library, 3455 N. First Ave. Call your local library for other sites and times.

STATE SOVEREIGNTY. The Saturday Morning Breakfast Club hosts Constitutional Forums at 8 a.m. every Saturday at Piccadilly Restaurant, 6767 E. Broadway. Dr. Michael Block, UA faculty member and member of the Arizona Panel on State Sovereignty, discusses his involvement in getting the State of Arizona to join Nye County, Nevada, on the issue of state sovereignty on January 27.
