BORDER WORKSHOP. Tucson/Pima Arts Council's Heritage Program presents a free, in-depth Borders Workshop on International Programs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27, at 240 N. Stone Ave. This is an interactive workshop focusing on international exchanges between Mexico and the U.S., specifically Tucson. Information on funding, border issues, insurance, festivals, creating a Pima County roster of artists and other concerns will be covered. CHRISTENBERRY LECTURES. The following free lectures are given in conjunction with Reconstruction: William Christenberry's Art, on display at the UA Center for Creative Photography: Thomas W. Southall presents Beyond Time and Place: Surrealism, Memory, and Dreams in the Art of William Christenberry, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in the auditorium. A Mary Okoye, Director of the City of Tucson's Intergovernmental Affairs Program, moderates a panel discussion entitled The Klan Room: Other Voices, at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2. Panel members discuss issues raised by the Klu Klux Klan, the subject of Christenberry's The Klan Room, its role and character in Southern culture and its effect on African Americans' experiences and identities. Panel members are Leonard Dinnerstein, UA professor of History and Director of Judaic Studies, Robert Houston, novelist and Director of the UA Creative Writing Program, and Ella M. PUBLIC ART TOUR. Learn about your favorite downtown artwork's history and imagery, and discover new works of public art during an insider's tour of downtown Tucson at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, beginning at Tucson/Pima Arts Council, 240 N. Stone Ave. David Hoyt Johnson, Director of T/PAC's Public Art Program, hosts this guided tour in the air-conditioned comfort of a shuttle bus, with plenty of time to experience the artwork up close.
