SPECIAL EVENTS

ENVIRO-POWER RALLY. Help voice the need for the protection of our environment at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 20, at the Capitol Building in Phoenix. Anyone concerned with the Arizona Legislature's anti-environmental agenda is encouraged to attend. A bus leaves Tucson at 9:30 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 is requested, and reservations are required. Sportsmen, environmentalists, Arizona Common Cause, and the League of Women Voters are among many groups that will be represented. The League of Conservation Voters hopes this will be the largest rally in Arizona history. DOWNTOWN SATURDAY. Experience art and culture with exciting street performances, live music and self-guided historic and art tours all day Saturday, January 20. Cuentos, Cuentos y Mas Cuentos, Spanish stories highlighting Latino culture, are offered from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Screening Room, 127 E. Congress St. Storytelling in Tiles meets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at WomanCraft Castle, 388 S. Stone Ave. Ballet Folklorico and Karizma Musicals brighten the evening at the Ronstadt Transit Center. Aventine Hill sings lyrical folk-rock melodies at Winsett Park on Fourth Avenue, and Thee Tragidiots perform in the Arizona Alley. Rancho Venado horse and wagon rides depart from the transit center throughout the evening. Pick up a program of events at the information booth at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Congress Street. WELLNESS FAIR. Safford Elementary and Middle Schools host a Wellness Resource Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, at 200 East 13th St., in the cafeteria. Various community organizations will participate. Call Jane Furet at 617-6200 for information.

STAMP SHOW. Coins of the Realm, the monthly Tucson Coin and Stamp Show, meets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 21, at Marketplace USA, 3750 E. Irvington Road. Collectibles such as coins, stamps, tokens, post cards and sports cards will be available to buy, sell and trade. Free appraisals, admission and parking. The Tucson Stamp Club meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month in the Armory Park Senior Center, 220 S. Fifth Ave. Browse and trade at 6:30 p.m., with meeting following at 7:45 p.m. Call 743-0429.
