The Honorees in the 1998 Tucson Area Music Awards were determined by a Readers' Poll in the Tucson Weekly, conducted during five weeks in March and April. We received more than 1500 ballots, all carefully counted and tabulated.

Our hearty congratulations to all of this year's Honorees. After all the ballot counting and awards hoopla, it's important to remember that, at heart, the TAMMIES is less about individual winners and more about the celebration of Tucson's diverse and talented musical community. Our thanks to all the music lovers who took the time to vote for their favorite artists. And our biggest thanks to the hardworking musicians who are out there playing, night after night. Support local music!

A note on the list of Honorees: The Honoree in each category received the most votes in the Tucson Weekly's Readers' Poll. Runners Up are listed in order of the number of votes received. In some categories, we received very few votes, or had so many nominees with the same number of votes. In such cases, we decided not to award Runners Up: or, in one case, a final winner. The final categories include only the Honoree.
