TAMMIES '95

The Tucson Area Music Awards celebrates the excellence and diversity of Tucson's music community. In its third year, the TAMMIES featured a showcase weekend musical festival in April, with more than 80 artists performing at 12 venues. In a Tucson Weekly Readers' Poll, eighteen honorees were chosen as the 1995 TAMMIES winners. And on May 10, at a gala awards ceremony under the starts at downtown's legendary Hotel Congress, the winners received their coveted TAMMIES awards and attendees heard music by Los Diamantes, the Titan Valley Warheads, the Blues Kats, the Friends of Dean Martinez (with a special guest cameo by Victoria Williams), the TAMMIES All-Star Band, Lisa Otey, Shovel, The Drakes, and Dog and Pony Show. Ginger's Dave Slutes emceed the event and a fine time was had by all.
