AFRICAN HOLIDAY MARKET. Visit the Sixth Street Art Studios, 44 W. Sixth St., for a glance at unique fine art gift items and more, with proceeds benefiting the Barbea Williams Performing Company. BED & BREAKFAST TOUR. Get a sneak peek at Tucson's Bed and Breakfasts decked out in their holiday finery from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 8. The annual Holiday Open House Tour benefits Casa de Los Niños. Eleven bed and breakfast inns will offer seasonal treats for visitors, with admission at each inn being a donation of cash or essential infant and school supplies for Casa. BREWSTER CENTER ART AUCTION. View or purchase art for a worthy cause at the fifth annual Brewster Center silent auction from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 7, at Craig Fine Arts, 6070 N. Oracle Road. Local artists have donated from one to six miniature paintings for auction. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be served. The Arizona State Museum presents Weaving, The Soul of Fiber, a two-day show and sale of Southwest textiles on Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8. DOWNTOWN SATURDAY. Check out galleries, street performers and unique downtown Tucson sights all day and night Saturday, December 7. There will be musical entertainment throughout the downtown area. Join the Arts Brigade in creating a night chalk mural on Pennington Street from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Bring knee pads, chalk and your personal vision. FESTIVAL FOR LIFE. Tucson Convention Center. 260 S. Church Ave. Join the People with AIDS Coalition of Tucson (PACT for Life) for their eighth annual Jerôme Beillard Festival For Life on Saturday, December 8, in the Galleria at the TCC. There will be a silent auction at 5:30 p.m., with a live auction following at 6:30 p.m. Items to be auctioned include decorated tress, holiday wreaths, menorahs, gift baskets, celebrity items and more. This year's honorary hosts are Rita Coolidge and Sally Kirkland. Entertainment will be provided by The Desert Voices, Reveille Gay Men's Chorus and Jonathan Brown. Raffle tickets are available at the PACT office or at the door, with prizes including a trip to Las Vegas, and much more. Admission is $20 advance, $25 at the door. Call 770-1710 for information.

HISTORIC HOME TOURS. The Sosa-Carrillo-Fremont House Museum, a branch of the Arizona Historical Society, offers van tours of the downtown historic districts, including Barrio Historico, Armory Park, Congress Street and the El Presidio neighborhood, from 9 to 11 a.m. the fourth Friday of each month. Refreshments will be offered after the tour. Cost is $12 per person. Walking tours of the downtown historic districts are also offered at 10 a.m. Saturdays, departing from the Carrillo House, 151 S. Granada Ave., one block south of Congress St. in the TMA Historic Block. The walking tour, which includes a slide show, is $4. HUMAN RIGHTS DAY. The Derechos Humanos Coalition/Arizona Border Rights Project presents an International Human Rights Day news conference at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, in front of the Federal Building, 300 W. Congress St. An International Human Rights Day symposium gathers from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Copper Room at the Quality Hotel and Suites, 475 N. Granada Ave. Celebrate and promote respect for human rights with an evening of reports and discussion led by local and national leaders. Call 770-1373 for information.

LUMINARIA NIGHTS. Tucson Botanical Gardens. 2150 N. Alvernon Way. 326-9636. Take a stroll through the TBG amidst thousands of luminarias at TBG's 10th annual Luminaria Nights, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8. Stroll along candlelit garden paths, with choirs, musicians, and hot cider and a holiday treat provided by Trader Joe's. Admission is $4, $2 for TBG members, $1 for children 12 and under. MADRIGAL CHRISTMAS FEAST. Green Fields Country Day School presents its eighth annual Madrigal Christmas Feast at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, December 8, on the Green Fields Campus. This holiday tradition includes fine food, music, drama, jugglers and more, performed by Green Fields' music and drama students. Tickets are $24. Call 297-2288 for tickets and information.

NORDIC FAIR. The Tucson Nordic Guild's annual Nordic Fair gets under way at 9 a.m. and continues until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 7, at Plaza Palomino, southeast corner of Swan and Fort Lowell roads. There will be Scandinavian arts and crafts, traditional foods and baked goods, and live music and dancing. Admission is free.

OUTDOOR WALKING TOURS. Visit the birthplace of Tucson in the shadow of Sentinel Peak, historic Menlo Park homes, Mission Garden, and more from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 8. Walking tours will leave on the hour and half-hour. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane on the corner of Congress Street and Bonita Avenue, just west of I-10, to purchase tour tickets and partake of booths featuring handicrafts by local artisans, traditional Mexican Christmas foods and live music. TOYS FOR TOTS. Make Christmas a little brighter for a child in need and watch an entertaining array of dancing styles at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 8, at the 20th annual Toys For Tots Dance Program at the El Con Mall Pavilion. TUCSON KITCHEN MUSICIANS. Enjoy fabulous music by such acts as Stefan George, Crawdaddy-O, Elise Grecco, The Determined Luddites, Kathy Rote and Bill Lackey from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, December 7, while helping TKMA raise money for the 12th annual Tucson Folk Festival in May. Festivities take place at St. Michael's and All Angels Church, 602 N. Wilmot Road. There will be food and beverages available for purchase. WINGSPAN AUCTION. Wingspan, Tucson's Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Community Center, is conducting its annual silent auction through December 15. Up for grabs this year are weekend getaways, works by local artists, and much more. All are invited to stop by the center, 422 N. Fourth Ave., to view and bid. Funds raised from the auction benefit a variety of services including a 24-hour information line, support groups, a youth group, and free HIV testing. There will be a reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, December 7. Call 571-8183 for information.

WINTER STREET FAIR. Mark your calendar for the 27th annual Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair, an eight-block shopping extravaganza, from 10 a.m. to sundown December 13 through 15 on Fourth Avenue between Congress and Speedway. Admission is free, with free parking and shuttle service on Saturday and Sunday only from the State Parking Building, 400 W. Congress St. For information call 624-5004.
