New photos show the Trump Administration’s border wall constructed across the San Pedro River, formerly the last major free-flowing river in Arizona. The photos, taken where the San Pedro crosses into Mexico from Cochise County, were shot by Robin Silver, co-founder and board member of the Tucson-based Center for Biological Diversity.

The wall’s construction has proved controversial in Southern Arizona, prompting one of the largest political demonstrations in Cochise history against the destruction of the San Pedro floodplain. In addition, local governments officials have expressed frustration over the lack of communication by theย Department of Homeland Security regarding construction specifics.

One of the main concerns about the construction is its impact on wildlife. According to CBD,ย the wall is blocking one of the best remaining wildlife corridors in the region, and is likely to clog the river with debris during monsoons.

The same stretch of river last year.

Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick says she has sent multiple letters to the Department of Homeland Security requesting transparency on the border wall construction, all of which have gone unanswered.

At a February board meeting, the Cochise County Board of Supervisors approved a letter supporting Kirkpatrick’s efforts encouraging DHS to engage with local agencies and the general public to offer information about their border construction. According to the Board of Supervisors, Cochise County had “not been made aware of, or consulted on, any site plans or construction timelines.”ย

  1. If people would quit hiring illegals, buying their drugs and providing them with welfare and free healthcare they wouldn’t want to come here and the fence/wall wouldn’t be necessary.

The very nuts who populate the Center for Biological Diversity and others like them want to open the border to all and exacerbate the problem.

  2. Wes S., you will never see sunlight. Your head is so far into where the sun don’t shine. The Center for Biological Diversity is one of THE best organizations to ever exist. Your lies are ridiculous. Go suck off tัโ˜ญmp, why don’t you?

  3. I’m with Wes 5 keep all the damn illegals out and then we won’t need the wall, but until then build them higher, If you don’t like this stick your own head where the sun don’t rise.

  4. Biden and Obama imported drugs and illegals while exporting our jobs. All the while he was getting wealthy. How stupid are Americans?

Law and order will convict the Biden’s.

Fifty likes for comment by @Ricardo Small that demeans homosexual activity. Homophobes? Disgusting people every one of you.

  5. Yeah—well—Richard, I’ll just refer you to my first comments in this thread. It’s pretty simple, if you don’t want the fence built, stop encouraging smuggling.

  6. Yeah—well—Anusface, I’ll just refer you to my first comments about you. It’s pretty simple, if you don’t want to seem like you’re an asshole, stop encouraging desperate trolling.

  7. Irony. Sexually Confused pleading for the cessation of desperate trolling. And having such a way with words.

  8. A couple points to address both sides:

    1. Walls are NOT permanent, it’s helping deal with a CURRENT problem of illegal immigration. Future generations will probably take it down.
    2. Obviously this is not good for nature.
    3. It’s built right through wetlands which are some of the most biologically diverse terrains on earth.
    4. There are more modern solutions to walls as a form of security.

  9. Kindness would work wonders here. No every immigrant is a smuggler or dangerous. The vast majority are exactly like ALL of our ancestors were (unless Native American) – looking for a better life. Many starving, penniless and enduring disease ridden cargo holds of ship to reach America. That is hope and faith in action. Most didn’t fare much better when they get here. But, we thrive, for the most part (you all have a computer) now standing on their shoulders. I wish my ancestors had some gov’t help back in the 1800’s. When you don’t have boots to wear, you can’t expect folks to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” without some bit of charity and assistance. We were all foreigners here once.

  10. Kindness has not worked Thomas. And it is not the fault of the honest citizens fleeing, but a failed and corrupt government that can not seem to get a handle on drug running cartels and human smugglers. Many of these illegals paid much money to coyotes to get them here. We are not the worlds dumping ground for failing countries. Why not move down there and fix it? It isn’t fixable is it? Can they all move here? Trump could have thrown open the border and allowed everybody so he could win an election. He didn’t do that. But others will. Is that fair to take jobs from Americans? Or money to fund it?

  11. This abomination of a wall is the worst thing that trump has done. He has destroyed the borderlands and erected a massive hideous tribute to his ego. He is dooming cross-border species like ocelot and jaguar to extinction. And the wall is no great barrier to humans who can climb it or cut through it. His name will live in infamy.

  12. Hyper Bullic Chamber. blah blah blah. Extinction, Climate Change, Systemic Racism. We are doomed.

Or have we even begun to lie to ourselves?
