I can’t claim to be a huge fan of beloved writer Maurice Sendak (I seem to have made the leap from Little Golden Books and Ferdinand the Bull to newspapers and magazines as a kid, without much time for his work), but I can’t deny that he’s made a huge impact on the lives of many, many children in this world.
In honor of what would have been Sendak’s 85th birthday, the folks at Google produced the animation below as one of the day’s Google doodle.
To check it out, in its original glory, head to Google.com, or to the doodle’s individual page.

Didn’t miss it. Enjoyed it all day! My boy and I both love “Where the Wild Things Are” in both incarnations; book and film. Multi-generational entertainment!
Saw it. Terrific! My kids loved that book. I’ve read it hundreds of times. In the Night Kitchen was depicted there too.
I did miss it, so thanks for making sure I didn’t! Fantastic!
