EQUINOX HIKE. Pueblo Grande Museum and Cultural Park. 4619 E. Washington St. (602) 495-0901. Join museum curator Barbara Moulard for an interstellar journey exploring the fall Equinox Hole In The Rock Site in Papago Park from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, September 22. Learn how the ancient Hohokam people used the hole in the rock site to calibrate their calendar. Cost is $5, free to members and registration is required. FAMILY ADVENTURE. The University of Arizona Extended University lets parents and kids get out an explore the Sonoran desert together in the Desert Ecology Family Institute Friday, September 20 through the 22. Participants will discover the relationships among plants, mammals, reptiles, birds and insects and their interaction with the physical characteristics of the Sonoran Desert. Cost is $65 for adults and $50 for children ages 5 to 13. Cost includes food, facility use and instruction. Participants must furnish their own tent or campers. Nature Conservancy. Get out of the bustle of town and take a trip to the Nature Conservancy's Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Visitor Center. There you can get back to nature and enjoy birdwatching, guided tours and hikes. Regular preserve hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Take Highway 82 to Patagonia, head west on Fourth Avenue, and south on Pennsylvania. Call (520) 394-2400 for information.

Exhibit hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $2. Enjoy a Walk in the Park tour at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday. Tours depart at 8 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; Art in the Park tours, docent-guided looks at gallery exhibits, are at 11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Join Marilyn Barker for a slide-lecture entitled Southwest Trading Posts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, in the Wilson Room. Lectures are free to members, $2 for non-members. Reservations required.
