CINEMA SHOTS. UA Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Building, located on the northeast corner of Mountain Avenue and Speedway. Pan Left Productions, a non-profit video production collective, and the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers present Unity Crosses Borders, a documentary on human rights abuses in Southern Arizona, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27. Also shown will be productions on Cuba, aging and technology. A reception will follow catered by Café Magritte, Café Quebec and the Tao of Foods, with live music by Peep Show. FASHION FAIR. Tucson Convention Center. 220 S. Sixth Ave. Sneak a peek at upcoming American and European fashions at the Ebony Fashion Fair, presented by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, at 8 p.m. Friday, March 28. FRIENDLY SKIES. The Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association invites the star-struck of all ages to Old Tucson Movie Studios from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 29. Members of the TAAA will have telescopes available for an excellent view of comet Hale-Bopp, in addition to other celestial sites. LOCALPALOOZA. TCC Exhibition Hall. 260 S. Church Ave. Get ready for a day of music and fun: Localpalooza features bands from Tucson and Phoenix, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 29. There will be music for everyone including blues, jazz, alternative, rock and more. Admission is just two cans of food for the Tucson Community Food Bank. This all-ages show is alcohol free.

OPEN HOUSE. Arizona State Museum. UA campus, east of University Boulevard at Park Avenue. 621-6302. Find out what they keep in the museum basement from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 29. The museum will throw open the doors to its collections storerooms, conservation laboratory, archaeological labs, exhibit preparation areas and more. Kids and adults alike will get the chance to grind corn a mano with a metate, or drill a shell with a pump drill. Call 621-6302 for a complete schedule of events.

SHUTTER BUGS. Shrine Temple. 450 S. Tucson Blvd. The Arizona Photographic Collectors present their 24th annual Camera Show and Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 29. Feast your eyes on thousands of cameras and lenses, literature, dark room equipment, projectors, images and more. Admission is $4; $1 off coupons available at local photo shops. STELLAR SHOW. The University of Arizona's Flandrau Science Center wants you to see comet Hale-Bopp. Flandrau has arranged for a Hale-Bopp viewing location in Marana complete with telescopes and binoculars, with a pre-comet planetarium presentation.
