Performances This Week

BUGLISI/FOREMAN DANCE. UA Centennial Hall, east of Park Avenue on University Boulevard. Opening the American College Dance Festival (ACDF) is a concert by Buglisi/Foreman Dance at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16. Tickets range from $7 to $10. There will be three ACDF concerts, featuring works performed and choreographed by staff and students from the 40 universities participating in this year's festival: Concert I is at 12:30 and Concert II is at 8 p.m., Monday, March 17. Concert III is at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18. All performances are at Centennial Hall, and tickets for the ACDF concerts are $7 and $4, available at the Centennial Hall box office, 621-3341. There will be a closing banquet at 7:30 p.m. March 18, at the Arizona Ballroom in the Student Union. The banquet will feature selected ACDF dance works, dinner, and dancing with live music. EASTER PARADE. Tucson Center for the Performing Arts. 408 S. Sixth Ave. 792-8480. A Time To Dance studio presents Resurrection Celebration, an Easter concert featuring works in modern, ballet, tap and jazz, at 7 p.m. Monday, March 17. AFRICAN DANCE. Historic YMCA Theatre. 638 N. Fifth Ave. Master teacher Donald Eno Washington teaches classes in West African and Historical Black American Dance during his three week residency in Tucson. Classes are at 7 p.m. Thursday, and 7:30 p.m. Friday March 13 through 28. There will be a special master class from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, and a drumming class at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22. Walk in admission is $15 per class, $20 for the masters class, and $12 for drumming class. There are discounts for pre-registration. Call 293-2864 for registration and information.

BALLROOM DANCING. Dance to live music from 8 to 11 p.m. Wednesdays at Let's Dance Club, 6245 E. Bellevue. Singles and couples of all skill levels are welcome. Experience a touch of sophistication and romance with theme-dress occasions and a large, decorated ballroom. Cost is $7, $5 for members. Annual membership is $25. Call 885-4599 for information.

BALLROOM DANCING. Ballroom dancing is for everyone. Enjoy dancing at the Arizona Ballroom Company, 5536 E. Grant Road, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Friday, and the second and fourth Saturday of each month. Singles and couples of all ages and levels are welcome. You'll start the evening with a 30 minute class, then dance the night away! You can also enjoy dancing to live music from 3 to 5:30 p.m. the first and third Sunday of the month. STEP IN TIME. Thursdays keep jumping with the evening dance hosted by Tucson Friends of Traditional Music. Learn the art of Contra dancing with live callers and traditional music starting at 8 p.m. at the Zenith Center, 300 E. Seventh St. Dancers of all abilities are encouraged.
