STAFF PICK: Ever since the demise of the legendary Deluxe Shoeshine Parlor on Stone Avenue, scuffed boots have been looking for a pitstop. They've found one over in the northeast corner of La Placita Village, 110 S. Church St., with Raúl Rodriguez. When he's not giving directions to confused visitors in the La Placita labyrinth, Raúl might be found drawing for the lottery on basketball tickets over at federal bankruptcy court. Otherwise he'll be in his small, one-chair shop giving the best shine in town.
