Best Story Hour

STAFF PICK: No one cries, snores, giggles, sings or embellishes stories with sound effects like "Miss Susan" (Susan Lynne) at Himmel Park Library, 1035 N. Treat Ave. Each week she picks a theme (and becomes pigs, birds, babies) while she reads, sings songs and dances to that drummer. Miss Susan demonstrates the patience of a saint in the most trying of circumstances, bound to come up with a room full of children and adults, only some of whom continue to act like parents during Story Time. The head count at one Story Time this summer topped 60. Lucky for us the numbers are usually much smaller, so we can get real close and sit up next to her feet to see the pictures and wallow in her spell.
