ARIZONA THEATRE COMPANY. Preview performances Saturday, November 30, through Thursday, December 5: Swinging On A Star: The Johnny Burke Musical, a Southwest premiere written and directed by Michael Leeds. This chronological showcase features seven musical vignettes, highlighting the best of Burke's stellar career with 40 of his greatest songs. Half-price tickets for either performance on Sunday, December 1, are available with the donation of at least 4 non-perishable food items per ticket for the Community Food Bank. Opening night is 8 p.m. Friday, December 6, continuing with evening and matinee performances through Saturday, December 21. GASLIGHT THEATRE. 7010 E. Broadway. 886-9428. Continuing through January 4: Angel On My Shoulder or Winging In The Holidays, a musical comedy about a small town's search for holiday spirit. Proceeds from the performance on Saturday, November 30, will benefit the ALS Association of Tucson. Show times are 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12.95, $10.95 seniors/students/active military, and $6 for children. AUDITION NOTICE. Old Pueblo Playwrights announces open auditions for several roles in staged readings of new plays to be presented in January as part of the New Play Festival. Auditions begin at 6 p.m. Monday, December 2, at the Temple of Music and Art Cabaret Theater, 330 S. Scott Ave. Callbacks begin at 9 p.m. that evening. CALL TO PLAYWRIGHTS. The Arizona Theatre Company, in association with El Centro Cultural Mexicano de Phoenix, announces the third annual National Hispanic Playwrighting Contest. Contest is open to all Hispanic playwrights currently residing in the United States, its territories and Mexico. Full-length and one-act unpublished plays, and scripts which have received workshops and/or readings are eligible. The winner will receive $1,000 and be considered for ATC's GENESIS: New Play Reading Series. Call 884-8210 for a detailed copy of contest guidelines. Submission deadline is December 1.
