COSMIC ENCOUNTERS. The Zenith Center for Transformative Arts. 330 E. Seventh St. Explore the inner geometry of nature with New Zeland artist Jonathan Quintin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of films in Arizona, The Pink Motel presents a Silent Film Festival with screenings at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, March 26 through 28. GREAT AMERICAN MEATOUT. St. Mark's Presbyterian Church. 3809 E. Second St. Learn more about organic gardening, nutritional supplementation, alternative health practices and compassion issues while sampling delicious alternatives to meat and dairy products at the Great American Meatout from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 22. There will be tasty soy burgers and dogs, vegetable and pasta salads, chili and more--plus you'll have the opportunity to visit information tables and talk with members of the Vegetarian Resource Group of Tucson. HISTORIC HOME TOURS. The Sosa-Carrillo-Frémont House Museum, a branch of the Arizona Historical Society, offers van tours of downtown historic districts including Barrio Historico, Armory Park, Congress Street and the El Presidio neighborhood. Tours run from 9 to 11 a.m. the fourth Friday of each month, with refreshments offered after the tour. Cost is $12 per person. Walking tours of the downtown historic districts are also offered at 10 a.m. Saturdays, departing from the Carrillo House, 151 S. Granada Ave., one block south of Congress St. in the TMA Historic Block. The walking tour, which includes a slide show, is $4. LAS FAMILIAS BENEFIT. Laffs Comedy Café. 2900 E. Broadway. Spend the evening with Los Angeles comedian Stephen Kruiser on Tuesday, March 25. The fun starts with comedian Gary Hood at 7 p.m., then Kruiser takes the stage. Tickets are $10. This special benefit event will support Las Familias Center for Child Sexual Abuse Treatment. ROCKIES FIESTA. El Parador Restaurant. 2744 E. Broadway. 881-2808. The Sovereign Arts Society presents Salsa Rockies Fiesta from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday, March 23. In addition to autograph signing by the Colorado Rockies, this family affair will feature delicious food, folklorico dancers, and fabulous music by Ache Pa Tí, Ismael Barajas, Descarga and Sounds of Brazil. Tickets are $12, with free admission for children 12 and under, and includes full buffet and non-alcoholic beverage. All proceeds will benefit the Latin Music Project, a not-for-profit organization supporting and promoting local Latin musicians.

TOAST TO LIFE. Plaza Palomino, southeast corner of Swan and Fort Lowell roads. Enjoy a vast array of gourmet foods, wines, and more at the second annual Toast To Life, benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Southern Arizona, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 21. A total of 14 area wineries and 22 local restaurants and catering companies have donated goods for the tasting. In addition, several merchants have donated items and services for a silent auction.
