ARCHAEOLOGY AWARENESS. March is Archaeology Awareness Month. Spend some time with archaeologist Allen Dart at 7 p.m. Monday, March 17, at the Kirk Bear Canyon Library, 8959 E. Tanque Verde Road. Dart will present Local Archaeology Opportunities for the Public: You Too Can Dig! He will have artifacts and multi-media displays that will interest the entire family. On Wednesday, March 19, Dart presents Prehistoric Pottery of the Tucson Area at 7 p.m., at the Tucson Museum of Art's Education Center, 140 N. Celebrate the coming of spring from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 22, with a morning hike into nearby King Canyon where you'll search out and listen to the sounds of spring. Make up birdcalls, look for the Easter bunny, make up birdcall rhymes, and share a picnic snack. Then return to the Museum for a lesson on using the sun to tell time and make your own sundials. Cost is $10 for adult members, $12 for non-members, and $4 for all children. Pre-registration is required. Call Barbara at 883-3022 for registration and information.
