TOTALLY TOMATOES. Become an expert in producing home-grown tomatoes with a workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 2, at Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way. Instructor Tarke Sweet instructs on picking a ripe location, soil preparation, plant types and pest protection. Cost is $12, $10 for TBG members. Call 326-9686 for registration and information.

GARDENING WORKSHOP. Native Seeds hosts a Spring Gardening workshop from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at TBG. Cost is $10. Pre-registration required. Pick up native vegetable seedlings and information between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Foods, books and Native American crafts are also for sale. Call 327-9123 for registration and information.

BOTANICAL GARDENS. The Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Nursery hours are 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Saturday. Welcome the spring at the first annual TBG Family Day, from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3. Guided tours of the gardens are offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday and Saturday. Regular attractions include the following: Birds and Gardening tours at 9 a.m. Tuesday; Gardening for the Newcomer from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the first Thursday and third Saturday of the month; plant clinics; the Native Seeds/SEARCH mini-museum of ethnobotanical displays, open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and the TBG library, open 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Admission to the Botanical Gardens is $3, $2 for seniors, and free for children under 12. Call 326-9255 for information.

TUCSON ORGANIC GARDENERS. The Master Composters of the Tucson Organic Gardeners staff a compost maintenance site at TBG from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday to answer all of your composting questions. GARDEN DEMONSTRATIONS. The following free, one-hour demonstrations are offered at 9 a.m. Wednesdays at the Extension Garden Center, 4210 N. Campbell Ave.; and at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at the Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road: March 6, Planting Native Trees. Call 628-5628 for information.
