BETTER BASKETBALL. The ASUA-ULC Basketball League still has space available for sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls and boys who want to learn more about basketball and the college experience. Try-outs begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, January 25, at the Bear Down Gym, south side of the UA mall west of Cherry Avenue. Program is designed to allow youngsters the opportunity to spend time on a college campus, learning about the opportunities afforded by higher education, while improving their jump shots. RIDE FOR LIFE. Start training now to raise funds to battle AIDS in Arizona. The AIDS Ride for Life is scheduled for Sunday, April 13 through Saturday, April 19. Route begins at the Grand Canyon and ends in Tucson, with route divided over seven days. Five hundred or more cyclists are needed to make the 465-mile trip, with the goal of raising $1,000,000 for independent agencies offering AIDS services in Arizona. Registration fee is $30.
