On this week’s episode of Zona Politics: Pima County Republican Party Chair Bill Beard and Pima County Democratic Party Chair Cheryl Cage debate the city budget, whether Tucson is business-friendly, whether Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild is vulnerable this year, what the U.S. Supreme Court is likely to do about same-sex marriage and the pros and cons of the county’s upcoming bond election. The least we can do in this life is to let people be happy. Their happinsess does not affect anyone’s elses.
Keep your religious beliefs where they belong, inside yourself.
Right and if you are happy thats all that matters! Im gonna marry my horse, cuz that makes me happy and hey i’m not bothering anyone right? Moron. YOUR religious beliefs are what helps shape your moral beliefs.. if you have NO morals.. then its OK. Didya even read the bible?? How about watching a movie? The one where Soddom and Gomorra gets Nuked by God?
Ah the old ‘if we let gays marry where do we stop?’ argument. Cmon. Giuseppe we’re talking marriage between consenting adults. No one is asking to marry their horse or their lawnmower. Maybe they are, but that’s not what this is about. And what about separation of church and state? You can worship whatever hateful god you want-just don’t tread on me. PS you don’t need religion to have morals. Have YOU read the bible? Skim through the love thy neighbor bits?
Wow, Bill Beard speaks with force and convincing demeanor, but where are the facts? I have no doubt the Republican County Chairman believes his arguments but lacks evidence and presents his case in a robust manner without developing facts to back up his charges.
Too bad his talk doesn’t match up with facts or what is really happening in Tucson, as far as that goes in Southern Arizona. Mayor Rothschild and the City Council has really produced in a short period of time with so much to be done at the same time of explosive growth. Leadership without much positive measures from state government in Phoenix has made the task so much more difficult.
On the whole Democrat County Chair Cheryl Cage attempted to dispute each and every argument in a calm and restrained manner especially when Mr. Beard often tried to override Ms Cage by talking over her. Of course we would expect her strong defense of the Democratic Council’s actions and she lived up to that.
Ms Cage sticking with reality, presenting the facts as they actually exist rather than some conjecture of strange cases of Mr Beard’s twisted got to be against
even when wrong attitude. I wouldn’t expect the GOP’s line of agreement but I do expect some evidence at the time he tears down the achievements and accomplishments of the Tucson City Council.
Mr Beard certainly doesn’t have to practice his presentation, just bone up on the facts.
“YOUR religious beliefs are what helps shape your moral beliefs”
There is no evidence of this whatsoever. Moral beliefs are largely determined by the culture and times in which you live along with many other factors, one of which is religion.
“Im gonna marry my horse” – only if the horse can consent and that consent is upheld in a court of law.
