Some of us at Tucson Weekly HQ are a little baby crazy at the moment. We know it’s not Dan or Mari, so that leaves Jim and myself. I’m keeping tabs on the Reid Park Zoo Facebook page for up-to-date videos and photos of Tucson’s most adorable elephant calf. I’m available for babysitting just incase Semba wants to go out for a date night, or what ever.

I have seen every episode of Babar the Elephant, so I’m highly qualified for the job.

  1. No, actually Henry just left out a comma and a few words. He meant to write “so that leaves Jim, and I would like to be included as well.”

  2. Yes, Bob I’d rather have that baby born here to roam in 6 acres than poached in it’s natural habitat. 100K elephants were poached last year, according to some news sources. Until governmental protections are in place AND working in the countries of their natural habitats, maybe it’s a good thing to have some elephants in reserve.

  3. After 20+ yrs of teaching elementeray education, 1st graders, I’ve got a distaste when the Grammer Nazi’s come out not to comment but to criticize someones great deeds. Whoever you are you shouldn’t be doing this, you’ll drve people away who don’t speak ESL English or who spell according to how their accents are. My mother’s from Japan and college grad in both Japan and here from Univ. of Hawaii, she still spells by her accent @90 yrs old. Stop the criticism, you don’t go on msg boards for correct grammer, it’s to share ideas and make your points. Point being beautiful calf elephant.

This is about a beautiful baby elephant and that is the topic at hand. David, great comments and please know, whatever your spellings typo’s grammer education class you didn’t sign up for, & criticism you recieved by one who knows all actually knows nothing, notice not a word about the calf, just nouns, pronouns. etc. Your post was well taken and great!
