The Tony Award-winning musical Nine has made its way to Tucson, courtesy of the University of Arizona’s Repertory Theatre, and you now have a chance to win a pair of tickets to the show.
Two lucky winners of the Theatre’s Facebook “Night Out” contest on Wednesday, April 3, will receive a $50 gift certificate to Tavolino Ristorante for a pre-show dinner with their plus-one before the performance on Saturday, April 27. No specifics as to how the winners are selected are currently up on the Facebook page, but interested parties can continue checking the page here.
Nine, based on the 1963 Italian film 8 1/2 directed by Federico Fellini, “journey[s] through celebrated film director Guido Contini’s life as he examines the flawed romantic relationships of his past and present liaisons, while he also attempts to work through his creative block,” according to a description on the UA School of Theatre, Film and Television website.
Any story about a midlife crisis can only benefit from segues into song and dance, and as the play’s successful legacy on Broadway has spanned more than three decades, Nine, set in 1960s Venice, has proved its timelessness.
Nine debuts at the Marroney Theatre, 1025 N. Olive Rd., on Sunday, April 7 with a preview showing at 1:30 p.m. and an encore preview on Monday the 8th at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the preview shows are $20. Evening and matinee shows will run through April 28th, with a general admission price of $31, $29 for UA employees/seniors/military and $21 for UA students. You can click here to purchase tickets online. The Theatre cautions that the play contains adult themes and language, but with this crowd that’s probably more of an incentive than anything.

“Segway”? Seriously? A “Segway” is a superfluous piece of technology for people who are too lazy to walk down a sidewalk. I think you mean “segue”.
Thanks for the correction, skinnyman. Fix has been made.
FYI…People in Tucson & the surrounding area can enter-to-win a pair of free tickets to NINE & a $50 gift card to Tavolino Ristorante through tomorrow, April 18th. It does say that in the rules. Two winners will be chosen after Thursday, April 18th, for the 7:30pm performance on April 27th. Free parking that night, too! And one can use the $50 gift card for the restaurant anytime, though it might be fun to use it the same night of the performance.
