Sam Stone, media relations for Ruth McClung for Congress, sent us this message tonight to explain away the whole debate confusion:

The proposed debate on the 18th conflicted with a scheduled Town Hall at the Mission Library from 6:15 to 7:45PM Monday. We had previously canceled a similar event on short notice to accommodate Mr. Grijalva’s schedule in order to facilitate a radio debate in Yuma. We also rearranged our schedule and agreed to all his demands for the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce debate this past Wed.

The upcoming Town Hall has been supported by volunteer phone calls, lit drops, has been mentioned in media appearances, etc. In trying to arrange the first debate, we had suggested several available dates to Mr. Grijalva. His camp refused those dates citing similar conflicts. While we respect Mr. Grijalva’s scheduling needs, his campaign has not demonstrated similar respect for ours.

Also, it’s not entirely accurate to say that we “pulled out” of a debate whose details and format (time of day, moderator, question format, etc.) were never finalized.

  1. Where are all the “tea bagger” references? Or do you only do that when you write a story where you don’t have all the facts and have to use made up accusations?

  2. All you Catholics out there who are planning to vote for Grijalva should know that such a vote would be a MORTAL SIN.

Canon 1398 provides that, “a person who procures a successful abortion incurs an automatic (latae sententiae) excommunication.” This means that at the very moment that the abortion is successfully accomplished, the woman and all formal conspirators are excommunicated. With Grijalva’s sponsorship of FOCA he is a formal conspirator in abortion and if he still thinks of himself as Catholic he has been automatically excommunicated.

There is no “lesser of 2 evils” argument that can allow you to vote for Grijalva and remain in union with the Church. Please order your conscience to the Church and vote against Grijalva.

  3. What??? A vote is a mortal sin? Somehow in all of those years of indoctrination I missed that one. Another reason to be a lapsed catholic?

To “A catholic voter” what about all the HUMANS dying in the desert? the republicans don’t care about them if they are not American citizens and they are real humans, not still being cooked in the making one day humans. So any catholic voters planning to vote McClung are guiltier of far more potential “sin” than anyone voting for Grijalva.
