So we’re hearing a lot about these super delegates and how they might have the power to decide the Democratic presidential race. Blog for Arizona takes a look at the Arizona super delegates today.
Perhaps you’re wondering how you can become a super delegate yourself. How does it work? Do you have to be bitten by a radioactive presidential candidate?
Actually, you just need to win a spot as a first vice chair of the Democratic Party. And it turns out there’s an opening because Donna Branch-Gilby is giving up her first vice chairmanship as she prepares to challenge Pima County Supervisor Sharon Bronson in the September primary.
The new first vice chair will be elected at the state convention on April 26. Want to apply? Call Pima County Democratic HQ at 326-3716.

THANKS FOR THE ARTICLE ON THE SUPER DELEGATES. I DIDNT KNOW THERE WERE SUPER DELEGATES THAT WERE IN THE STATE OF DELEGATE AND HAD TEN TIMES THE NUMBER OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR VOTING. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE I THINK THE VOTE SHOULD BE DEMOCRATIC NOT DECIDED BY THE WINNER OF THE THIRD PERMUTATION OF VOTER BLOC. THAT IS WHAT THEY DID IN THE SOVIET UNION THAT IS WRONG.
Oh, god … now we’re going to devote the next several issues to Project Super Delegate.
James, you’re spoiling all the surprises in Thursday’s issue!
Is this like everyone’s first election, ever? Democratic voting, one man one vote? What planet are you folks from? We have a REPRESENTATIVE style government. We elect or choose or appoint them, then they represent us in “the big house.” That goes for Super Delegates. They represent a group of us. Individual votes don’t count for shit. You suddenly want to change the process because you get the feeling your “man” is going to be outmaneuvered my Hillary. Pussies! Suddenly we’re all getting a sense of how politics works. Imagine that, politics ain’t fair! Where the hell were YOU when Bush outplayed the Dems, twice? Couldn’t put down your bongs long enough to care back then? Democrats deserve what they’re about to get.
Soviet Union? Brad, jump into the new century dude.
Super Delegates wear primary-colored leotards and red capes so they can fly around voting against their constituency.
Super Delegates can leap tall coalition-buildings in a single bound.
They are allergic to Kryptonite because it has transparency.
