Remember Julie Glaser Ray, the freelance writer and graphic designer with the cool burrito cart she uses to gather memories and visions of what Tucsonans have for downtown? Her project is called the Burrito Files, and her latest blog entry is asking folks to vote on what happens next for downtown and what may be the next steps for Glaser Ray and the Burrito Files. So, gather ’round your computers and visit her Web site. For what it’s worth, I’d like to see her have a chance to celebrate what she’s done so far, bringing the interviews together in a space, along with some other night of downtown visioning. Have it begin on one end of downtown lead by a shaman or two doing an exorcism, followed by a New Orleans funeral band, and behind the parade – a lone Mariachi trumpeter. That way we cover our bases (and asses), and wipe the slate clean, so to speak.
And don’t forget – three cheers for the Burrito Files!

“What’s Next Burrito Files?”
Interpolating the comma, perhaps an infomercial, a dvd package, and a toll-free number. There seems to be a nationwide market. Whether she can compete with “adjustable shower chairs” is another question…
an amigo from phily to calif has been pretty much doing the same thing. he’s at: http://www.voodooartist.com/wordpress/
nyt mention: http://www.nytimes.com/2001/06/24/national/24TOUR.html?ex=1233205200&en=f6fed820d852f57d&ei=5070
but, that noted, love the idea of doing this in tucson.
like story core with food.
or that miner thing the ua does.
so what do i want to see for a next step?
i’d like to see the burro cart mutate into a port-a-john.
not some hardcore stank can but i class-a one, with mood lighting and flowers. perhaps a skylight, some glitter paint, and one of those glowing sanitary seats they love in hong kong.
one can step right in and flush out the truth.
plus in this age when so few have a pot to piss in well now they do….
I would thing those Snuggies might be bigger competition. Who doesn’t want a Snuggie right now?
Mostly, Red Star things it’s a good think not to have Snuggies on the mind…
Mostly I worry about you. Does your family know you get on our blog and refer to yourself (alias) in third person? If they do know, Nintzel and I can come over and do an intervention.
Well, yes and no. Mostly, you should call first and do please leave Nintzel and Boegle behind. Especially Nintzel and Boegle. But worry not: you’re doing a good enough alt job, Mari Herreras.
Red Star, I can assure you I want nothing to do with your freaky rendezvous, but I have had my eye on a Snuggie for a while. I think druid fashion is making a comeback in ’09!
Druid fashion?
Look, in respect for Julie, can we change up this blog banter. Any ideas on downtown and the Burrito Files? I don’t think that if Julie asked you what was in a downtown burrito you’d say druid and snuggies… or maybe you would.
Mari, even though YOU started it, you are right to call for an end to this little epidemic. Who cares where Nintzel positions his eye in this day and age?
As for downtown, Red Star suggests a tavern named The Pink Gecko. Though it might be a happening place, you’ll never find Red Star there.
