There’s a lot to like about the Alamo Drafthouse mini-chain of indie theaters in Texas (although the Loft does have a lot of the same traits and features as the Drafthouses, even if they don’t seem to listen to my advice), including this promo which features their no texting policy. A note to obsessive texters: if you can’t spend an hour and a half without sending and receiving messages, maybe you shouldn’t go to the movies.

I generally try to get all my texting out of the way as I’m driving to the theatre.
Yeah screw all those people who pay to go to the movies. Theaters dont need them. I hate it when I m at the theater and I cant see the screen from all the light from someones phone because they are texting.
Things worked better in this country when people minded their own business.
Her comment above is the perfect post to exemplify the problem of the self-absorbed “me me me” generation. It isn’t that nobody in the theaters cared if she was texting – it’s that she was oblivious to the problem. What a low self-monitor and utterly clueless. And, obviously unable to express herself forcefully without vulgarities. I wonder if she knows how illiterate she is.
