  1. Proposition 107 is still losing, according to the yet-again, newest numbers for azsos.gov.

McCain’s hypocrisy on the right to choose sails on!

    Mitt Romney’s on the rampage.

The Democrats picked up six seats in the Arizona House and one in the Senate (we won’t have to deal with Cap’n Al).

The Melvin-Pequiera LD26 was an amazingly close race, too: according to the Northwest Explorer, the unofficial gap was by 455 votes, or a difference of less than 1 percent.

  3. It was close in LD 26 but also consider that the GOP holds a ten point edge in voter registration and usually turns out the numbers at the polls, either by early voting or at the polls. This time the Democrats did targeting and had a coordinated GOTV effort, as well as Napolitano leading the ticket. Saradnik and Pesquiera are the first Democrats to represent the Northwest District since state Rep. Reid Ewing back in the late 80’s/early 90’s.

  4. Well, two things missed are the files created for international travelers, and the strip search machine at the Phoenix airport.
As if the NSA wire tapping was bad enough, Now they have virtual strip search machines! Well it’s Home Land security to the tenth power, because in the name of fear they are touting their latest X-Ray security screening device they have named, ” Backscatter”. Just in time for the Holiday travel season, Sky Harbor International Airport will be the first airport to test Backscatter. It takes X-rays of passengers bodies to detect explosives and weapons, but if you don’t want certain body parts to show up, older models had you put a cold lead plate in your pants. Now they say they will blur the image, but, just who will blur that image first? Their screeners, in another location, get to see you NAKED ( a dream job for Mark Foley or Michael Jackson). This is yet another invasion of privacy in the NSA wire tap tradition, and further erosion of our civil liberties.
Check out my cartoon I call ” Airport Security gone Wild.”

  5. According to what I’ve read, the virtual strip search is a choice only if you refuse a pat-down as part of a second-level security screening. It’s not standard, it’s not even mandatory. Intruding, yes, but I feel many people got frightened and excited over this new measure but it was not made clear that they can still opt not to go through with it.

  6. After A long talk with my girlfriend.. and re-reading the Last two comments a few times, We decided It’s not invasion of privacy If your not breaking the law. See, I said it was at first, then my girl says she’d rather some random guy see her naked than get her face blown the fuck off with a tube of toothpaste and gatorade bombs. I thought, good point, but its my right as a citizen, then she cut me off and said, “you shouldn’t be doing stupid shit at an airport anyway. I feel safer knowing they are doing all they can to protect the public with wire tapping and X-rays.” Good point right? then Im like ” Well the government cant tap my phones and check on me without me knowing it. Its my right–” ” You shouldn’t be saying gay stuff at an airport anyways. Its an airport not a party, leave your drugs and guns at home.” And then I started typing, she convinced me. So who cares if they grab your balls, its for your protection. – Remember that!!
