Saturday night, the Stone Avenue Standard apartment complex, at 1800 N. Stone Ave., was the location of one of the largest parties in recent memory, with reports of nearly 1,500 people in attendance, overwhelming security and ending when someone pulled a handgun and fired shots into the air.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have anyone on the scene to check out the party in person. But thankfully, the folks at Blacked Out Media were there, recording it all—the girls making out, the guys slamming beer cans against their heads, the handles of booze flowing like water and the hurricane-like aftermath.
If you get a chance, take a look at the description, which reads:
“No alcohol was used in this video, only props”
Uh huh. Handles of “props” purchased at what looked to be an area Sam’s Club warehouse.
Wait, hold on:
Police helicopters? Check. 1,500+ people? Check. Insane amounts of alcohol? Check. youtube.com/watch?v=MKnWQx…

Nice job, guys.
Apparently, there ain’t no party like an Aussie Party, ’cause an Aussie Party don’t stop—at least, not until someone pulls a gun and fires a few times into the air, which someone helpfully captured on video.
So that’s where we’re at today. If you happen to have any more info on the party, the folks behind Blacked Out Media, or the YouTube user “ClintAronofsky,” who posted and removed the original video of the shooter, send us a note at mailbag@tucsonweekly.com.
This article appears in Jan 24-30, 2013.

Huge crowds, copious amounts of alcohol and a loaded gun. What could go wrong?
I guess someone had to turn it out.
Warning: For your own safety, do not watch the gunshot video fullscreen unless you are wearing a seat belt.
Well Aussie guys are probably going to get kicked out of those apartments.
Well. I live half a mile from the standard and my house was vibrating until the gunshots ended the party. So. I kind of want to thank the guy with the gun? But then again, probably not.
Also, I’d like to say it’s probably best to not be giving these guys the media attention they crave.
Wow. I thought I did not miss being young and stupid until I saw that video, I do.
In any event, it has been this way since the 90’s. Sheltered college kids throw ragers and the locals come thru and gangsterize it..
Well, yes, something needs to be done about this!
That place looked totally trashed afterwards. This is our nations future world leaders and business CEO’s. Oh no wait, they were home sleeping or inventing the next smart phone to make millions (or at least trying to sleep with this going on). This is more like our future fast food workers. I guess it takes a guy with a gun to do what the police should have done hours before due to the noise ordance and the fact that everyone in a 1 mile radius of the place was probably calling to complain.
As an Australian, I take as much issue with this article as any American would. Why does the fact that this was supposedly an “aussie party”, there were perhaps 6 “aussies” and I imagine the same would have occurred at any other teenage, college party.
So this video has thousands of views already, 1500 people attended (and looks like they had an ‘ok’ time), and to top it off has so many comments from people wishing they were there.
Your slanderous article has 8 comments….perhaps as a writer or as a country look at gun legislation and not blame a handgun being brought to a party on a bunch of Australians and college students trying to have a good time?
Thats college for you….. This happens a numerous times a year at every big school in the nation lol. If it was so loud and so many people were their, perhaps the cops should have been there before the gun shots then? As far as your article goes, no one was injured during this party, certainly no one dead. College kids will be college kids, take a chill pill.
Folks, just to clarify, the party was called “the Aussie Party” because it was promoted as such by the Australian exchange students who threw the party.
The guy with the gun was neither invited or welcome. If you saw the video security was already moving towards him to remove him when he pulled and fired the gun. My security team has done hundreds of these parties and we have had no students or guests injured and have always maintained control. In the video you see my team moving in just before the gunshots and then you see me chase the guy out of camera view. The complex had armed and unarmed licensed security and we called Tucson Police as a crime was committed. By the way, multiple security personnel were cross trained as Emergency Medical Technicians and were available to treat bumps and bruises resulting in smashing beer cans on ones forehead. This complex is in an industrial area and police received NO complaints for noise until our call for shots fired.
