Casino Del Sol’s AVA Amphitheater has announced two additions to its already impressive summer lineup. First up, Joe Cocker and Huey Lewis & the News on July 15th. However, the big one is a collision of pop-metal giants as England’s Def Leppard and Pittsburgh’s Poison dual-headline a show on September 12th. I watched two seasons of Rock of Love, so I could live without being reminded of Bret Michaels’ existence or his fondness for cowboy hats and bandannas, but if you only focus on the back-to-back hookfests of 1983’s Pyromania and 1987’s Hysteria, Def Leppard are actually a pretty good band. This might be the least-cool admission of all time, but I could listen to “Photograph” on a loop, possibly forever. What have you done to this rock and roll clown? I’m still not sure I know.

I don’t go to concerts at AVA. I HATE that they pat people down like common criminals. If they had Metal detectors and Metal detecting wands, I would not mind submitting to that type of search. But pat Me Down? NO WAY! I would rather go all the way to Los Angeles to a REAL venue where people are treated like people and not common criminals.
@icecld2, most shows nowadays are subject to this kind of “security” measure. I have even gone to shows where they look in your bag AND shoes. I always have to give up my carabeaner clip that holds my keys and my eye drops, as both are considered weapons (wtf?). Its annoying but at least you can relax and chill knowing someone won’t randomly shoot the place up…
