Women, men and children filled the streets of downtown Tucson to denounce Donald Trump’s rhetoric and behavior. One day after Trump took office, the Women’s March took to the streets, in almost 700 cities worldwide, with a message of equality for everyone.

Despite the morning rain, an estimated 5,000 gathered in Armory Park to hear speakers like Planned Parenthood outreach organizer Melissa Garcia and Rep. Kirsten Engel. Tucson Police Department estimated 15,000 people total participated in the march.

“It’s time to get angry again,” Engel said to a cheering crowd. She pulled on a pink hat in solidarity with the marchers. “Love is what keeps you fighting so tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow are better days.”

More came as people began to march to the Joel D. Valdez Library, carrying signs, singing, laughing and chanting: “This is what democracy looks like.” An estimated 10,000 people showed up to march, reminding each other of their shared values and that they’re not alone.

  9. I participated in this march yesterday. People were peaceful and tolerant. People sang, chanted, beat drums and joined together. Marchers did not impede traffic. Marchers additionally respected police and followed parade-route instructions. No one engaged in insults or violence.

    All of the men who participated in the march behaved like gentlemen, a disappearing species in today’s American society.

The one girl, the one that claimed that she never saw Trump again until the Apprentice aired in 1992, yet she lived in NYC for over a decade after the alleged incident, dropped the charges. Anyone who was in NYC at the time can tell you that it would have been impossible for her not to see a photo of Trump in over 10 years. He was on the front page of countless newspapers on countless newsstands and has never shied from the spotlight. Turns out her history of substance abuse may have clouded her judgement. And then there were the women who were actively courted – some offered money by Gloria Allred to the tune of $500,000, including at least one former Apprentice cast member, to make accusations against Trump.   45. There’s plenty of stuff out there which isn’t fake news that proves Trump is a misogynist. Hell, he said plenty of things on television alone. I know, just because he said it and it showed up on liberal media TV, it’s definitely not real.

    Yes, the charges in that particular rape case were dropped, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Rape cases get dropped all the time, due to fear of retaliation or the victim just not wanting to relive all that horror again. The other case I remember was dropped also, and that one was dropped sometime within the last 6 months. But, once again, if you were the victim, you may also change your mind in pursuing a case in which a very powerful and wealthy man has made death threats against you and your family.

    Also remember, Obama inherited most of the mess that stayed consistent throughout his presidency. Bush Jr. gave him an awful lot to fix and a lot of politicos who refused to give an an inch anywhere towards improving anything. People, especially the Obama haters, always conveniently forget about all that.

    In conclusion, I don’t want Trump to fail. In fact, I think it would be great if he proved all the naysayers wrong. Another thing I want is for people to have freedom to express their anger over a presidency which was campaigned on a platform of hate. If you open your mind to what actual facts are, not that nonsense presented on tea party or fake news websites, you will understand that these people have a legitimate cause and they are not the “useful idiots” that you demean them to be.

  54. This wasn’t a “women’s march”. It was a “liberal women’s march”. The organizers specifically excluded any women who are pro-life. Not that it’s bad, but I think that should be clear.
