In June, the Range posted that ASU associate professor David Garcia was thinking about running for state Superintendent of Public Instruction, celebrating how amazing it is to have someone actually qualified to be the superintendent and not just another politician extending their time living off the government teet.

Well, earlier this month,

Garcia officially kicked off his campaign

. He was recently in Tucson at a Drinking Liberally at the Shanty, and he’s back tonight. Why not meet him yourself? REA Media Group building on423 E. 9th Street just east of the Shanty off Fourth Avenue at 5:30 p.m.

  1. Great compelling story. Excellent grasp of what needs to be done to improve education in Arizona at the same time has ideas to make our education dollars boost economic activity.
Really needs to concentrate on seniors, the value to them of improved public education. So many retired to Arizona with commitment to schools and connections “back home”. Get a chance to listen to a master at public education. Added value is his vast frontline experience in education not just in Arizona but worldwide. A candidate that deserves a broad base of support!

  2. Dr. Garcia is very qualified for this position and actually has some education background and experience to bring to this important position. My vote is for him!
