I don’t recognize many of the ingredients on this new cocktail menu at Wilko, the restaurant right on the corner of Park and University, but that makes it all the more intriguing.
These drinks and others are available for $2 off during happy hour, which happens from 3 to 7 p.m., every day.
There’s more information on the restaurant here.

How often do the bartenders and servers at Wilco get punched in the eye? Just curious
How I, as a booze layman, feel when I read drink menus such as these:

(Man, I wish I could embed images into the comments.)
I guess there really is no such thing as a ‘starving student’ anymore. How did stuff around universities get this upscale and expensive? Do 21 year olds really…I mean REALLY have an appreciation for the ingredients in mixed drinks? I seriously doubt it. It just makes them feel like lil’ arrivés to pay that much for name brand stuff.
There are plenty of places for students to get cheap food, not to mention drinks, in this area of town. The guys at Wilko have been developing a unique drink menu for a while, and the few things I’ve tried have been pretty good. If you think booze should be cheap, taste like sugar and give you a headache go to a dive bar. If you are scared of new things, I’m sure they can make you something you’ve heard of. If you’re curious enough, I bet they’d explain to you what the things you don’t know are. The folks there have always been nice to me.
I’m with you James. Sounds intriguing to me–some really refreshing ingredients. And I like the idea of wine cocktails, being a lightweight.
As a bartender at Wilko I just want to say this: 1. It’s just booze folks, nothing to get scared of! 2. We welcome people with all tastes and preferences and hope to make you feel at home, whether you are feeling adventurous and want to try something new, or you just want the best possible representation of an old standby. And for the record: none of us has ever been punched in the eye (at least not on duty).
