Remember in late 2001, when some newspapers were mailed anthrax? Well, those cases have never been solved, and today, The New York Times received a letter with suspicious white powder.
UPDATE: The powder is reportedly harmless. But still, jeez …

While I do not support such attacks on the media, I gotta say that the media worked hard to see the war in Iraq realized; PBS, ABC, CBS and NBC having 393 people on to talk about it, three of whom were against. This war, and the dead people that come with this war, are partially the media’s fault, certainly including the Times.
If you set out to kill others, even just by encouraging a policy that results in their deaths, you should not be surprised that others might then want to kill you.
I would not be surprised if someone from the Bush administration sent the white powder or someone on the fringe, some flunkie. They do not exactly play by the rules. It could be some kind of warning like — get the hell off our backs.
