The O’Connor House is working to get more people to register to vote by chasing unlikely voters.
[O’Connor House President and CEO Sarah] Suggs said the organization plans to reach voters through a primarily digital strategy by placing links to register to vote in public library computers and working with a variety of partners to direct potential voters to www.voteaz.net. The website, which is a section of the main O’Connor House site, contains information on voter registration deadlines, election dates and how residents can encourage others to vote.
O’Connor House has also partnered with local businesses and organizations to help spread the word. For instance, several Harkins Theatres are playing ads encouraging voter registration before movies.
The O’Connor House is also working with the Public Relations Society of America to promote the challenge in the media via the PR Serving America program.
This is especially important in Arizona.
According to the organization Nonprofit VOTE, Arizona ranked 45th in the nation in overall voter participation during the 2012 elections. About 53 percent of eligible Arizonans voted in 2012. Minnesota had the highest voter participation rate at 76 percent.
No time like the present. If you’re not registered, do it now, online, at ServiceArizona. A few quick steps, and you’re a voter.

Stop, do we really need more voters or smarter voters? Wow, to mention just two the voters of Arizona elected, Attorney General Tom Horne and Superintendent Of Public Instruction John Huppenthal. One is so gutless he hides behind a screen as he writes very sad and dirty remarks for public view. Yet asking us to consider him for another four years to lead the public schools in Arizona. The other has given us four years of constant political and criminal investigations. The top attorney for the state can’t even follow the laws. More voters, come on will that give us better results?
We need more voters that live outside of the “great” state of Maricopa. It would be easier if those folks would wake up, but that clearly isn’t going to happen, so we need more voters elsewhere.
