It’s already been an odd week for KWFM 1330 AM. The station surprised listeners with an apparent format switch from its liberal talk lineup to music, with Alan Michaels at the helm. However, as of Tuesday afternoon it was back to talk, and figures to stay that way for the meantime. Michaels, the station’s Operation Manager, says KWFM had satellite issues over the weekend, and the equipment malfunction affected most of the station’s syndicated talk programming.
KWFM wasn’t able to get the issue fixed until Tuesday, so Michaels in a pinch did what he’s done for decades as one of the market’s best known music personalities: play music. But now that the satellite equipment is up and running again, so is the station’s syndicated lineup of progressive talk fare.

Red Star kinda wondered Monday night/Tuesday wee hours what happened to the station’s syndicated talk programming and what the station reveals about the Rushbots who call in (especially to Colmes). Actually, the substitute music provided by your Alan Michaels was pretty decent, so kudos to that one, Alan Michaels, as well.

God, praise that radio station KWFM for having the best programming in its colorful history. Long gone are the days of failure under poor management. It now has someone who knows how to run a station… and a great engineer who got it back to progressive talk in a hurry. Thanks Alan Michaels for a brief flash of the past. You really are the best in the business.

kjll has fallen along way from where it was just a few years back. I miss John C’s 2 hours and all the great local programs that surrounded it. Alan michaels should take a page from the old General managers book if he wants to succeed in world where AM is just about dead anyway.

AM radio is for Talk, not music, with its low fidelity. What the **** is going on there? Half the time I hear nothing but static, sometimes talk radio, now 1930s style mid-range music. Why would anybody listen to that when they can play a CD or listen to hi-fidelity music on FM? Why not keep the listeners informed as to what is going on there? I’ve never heard of any station like this. My high school radio station was run by kids, and it was far more stable and consistent than this one.
