At long last: The all-new tucsonweekly.com is here.

Please, go and check it out for yourself. (If you’re reading this on
the new Web site … good for you!) We’re still working out some kinks,
of course—please drop me a line should you find any
glitches—but we’re elated with how it turned out.

Some things worth noting:

• You can finally comment on all of our stories. Actually, you
can comment on pretty much everything on the new Web site,
including restaurants, locations and events—even events that have
already happened. Readers can also rate venues, restaurants and the
like.

• Our blog—now named The Range: The Tucson Weekly’s Old
Pueblog—is now more fully integrated into the site.

• You can set up your own tucsonweekly.com profile, through which
you can set up text-message or e-mail reminders about upcoming events;
you can bookmark favorite stories; and do all sorts of other great
things. However, all of this is completely optional; there are no
registration requirements to read any of our content. Period.

• The whole site is easier to navigate, with drop-down menus, a
searchable calendar/events module and all sorts of other nifty
stuff.

I could go on and on, but I am not doing it justice: Check out the
new tucsonweekly.com, and, as
always, let me know your thoughts.

Happy reading!

  1. Kewl!

Way great. Looking forward to seeing the restaurant reviews and event reviews fill out. Go Tucson go.

  2. Christ-this will become addicting…Hey why doesn’t somebody write a piece about the fact that Linda Ronstadt, Barbara Kingslover and most recently Nekko Case all collectively have taken massively negative critical dumps on the Old Pueblo in a few interviews over the years? It is amazing how they could use their association with the place to make bank and then just literally piss on it-at least Old Howe Gelb and Calexico keep up some facade…

  3. hands like clouds,

I’m totally with you on the recent annoyance of celebs coming down on Tucson, most notably Neko Case whose gripes were pathetic to say the least.

Howe Gelb and Calexico definitely do a great deal to speak highly about Tucson and to me it’s quite sincere o both of their parts.

Back on topic: Way to go TucsonWeekly.com!

  4. so have you dropped your links to other comics or are they somewhere other than under the “comics” link? I see the 3 locally produced ones but not the others? I like the site-a bit busy but we’ll get used to it.

  5. Retrorv: I’ll try to add in those links to the Opinion page after deadline. That is, if I can figure out how …

  6. The new web site seems to coencide with the loss of news from the Tucson Weekly on my Yahoo home page. I get all the other local news sources but the Tucson Weekly says No Articles.

  7. I kinda like the new site. The old site was getting a little creaky. I do agree with retrov that is is a bit busy.
    Some of my first impressions:
I think it needs a bit more color. The red needs a little something to balance it out.
The font size of the articles is just a bit small. Those of us with bifocals have to strain a little. A pixel bigger would be better.
I also took a quick peek ‘behind the scenes’. Looks like they did a good job making the page templates.
