Psst: The Dish opens tonight after being closed for a couple of months while it moved a block away.

The Dish used to seat 42 people and now will seat 25. I don’t understand the rationale of less seats at this popular and highly rated Zagat restaurant, but so be it.

I just received an e-mail from the owner, so perhaps it’s not that publicized yet, which means you could actually get a seat. The menu has changed greatly, and it’s all about small plates. Don’t worry: Those marvelous mussels are still on the menu.

Anyway, The Dish opens tonight at 5 p.m. at 3131 E. First St.

Rumrunner reopened last week at the same address.

  1. This is exciting news. With so many wonderful memories behind this restaurant, it’s good to see it re-opening.

And Karyn’s right…the mussels are truly amazing.

  2. I went to Dish tonight and it was early and very few diners. I have to tell you it’s small, intimate, and really hip. It is not set up for larger parties mostly onesies and twosies and perhaps a quartet.

The new menu has a lot of really distinct flavors but they are small plates with a select wine list.

Yes, it’s not on the main street. It’s on 1st Street, north diagonal from the former Dish.

And Rumrunner is huge. The liquor packaging is amazing. Who knew vodka was so infused?

  3. Why mess with a good thing? can’t find it, the menu I loved is gone (I’m not a mussel eater) and hardly any tables bigger than 2? I never bought my wine there anyway unless I was going to dinner so a bigger warehouse doesn’t do anything for me. sorry to say I won’t be going there anymore.
