Absolutely shocking food news today, folks: Big Juan’s Tacos y Burros, which was handily reviewed by Rita Connelly in July, has announced that they’ve ceased operations at both locations: 4352 E. Speedway Blvd. & 4470 N. First Ave.
We regret to inform all of our loyal customers that we have closed our doors due to unforseen circumstances.

The interesting thing to note here is that the sudden closure appears to have taken place immediately after a break for the holidays:

Now we know, Patrick.
Now we know.

Greek Taverna on Swan reportedly is closing tomorrow!
Both big Juans and Greek Taverna were regular Lunch spots for me, I am actually saddened by this news…
On a bright note though, I did resolve to lose a few lbs this year anyway.
Unforseen circumstances…that’s an interesting choice of words for closing down. Looks like someone doesn’t want to tell the reason why…not that it’s anyone’s business in the first place.
If I remember correctly, Rita didn’t give this place the most favorable review. I seem to remember a comment about the possible use of imitation cheese product and another comment about lack of flavor. This plus the fact that there are 10,000 other Mexican (fast & not so fast) food places in Tucson kept me from trying this place. I obviously wasn’t alone.
The comings and goings of restaurants, Kim Kardashian, adopt-a-pet…apparently always good for the white space…
