Here’s a special Friday night sneak peek of this Sunday’s “Zona Politics with Jim Nintzel.” Fred Duval, the Democratic candidate for governor, stops by the set to talk about why better schools are at the heart of his campaign, his support for marriage equality and his plans to have a DREAMer to lead the pledge of allegiance if he take the oath of office.
Then in a roundtable discussion, Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Lea Marquez Peterson and former Pima County Democratic Party chairman Jeff Rogers talk about the state of the governor’s race; catch up on what’s happening in the Attorney General’s contest; ponder whether Democrat Terry Goddard can beat Republican Michele Reagan in the Secretary of State’s race; weigh David Garcia’s chances against Diane Douglas in the race for State Superintendent of Public Instruction; discuss Gabby Giffords’ campaign against gun violence in key districts around the country; break down the arguments in the three-way House of Representatives race between Republican Ethan Orr and Democrats Victoria Steele and Randy Friese; and bark a bit over whether Pima County voters should approve a $22 million bond for a new animal-care center.

Discriminate?! Really! Parents guilty, parents to jail. Quality education, quality economy…What about the African Americans here when so sequestered by all others. Sad.
Maybe we should make it illegal to discriminate against people who disagree! La La La!
Hi well, about the show, not real informed as most info is structurally biased and that makes it difficult for most to even know!
We don’t need more Dems or Repubs as he is saying. What we need is less name recognition, blah, blah. We need surrender to common core. Don’t think twice it’s alright!
An illegal saying the pledge for Mr DuVal? “with liberty and JUSTICE for all?”
Get out of our country you criminal and wait your turn.
Liars and cheaters are last.
He should use an unemployed, American Citizen dreamer who lost his job to an illegal instead!
Brrrr, cold! Holding a decent and caring man who has donated so much to his fellow citizens in time and money to one’s personal hostile tea party ideology.
No one said you have to agree or accept other people’s points of view. But, “criminal get out of our country”. Young people, dreamers, brought to this country at very young ages are the reason for our unemployment and lack of good paying jobs?
Have you ever heard of trickle-down economics? Ever heard of that crock, reduce taxes, kill governmental protections will grow jobs? It didn’t work!
Starving schools and municipal funding for services, reducing taxes on high incomes, corporate tax breaks, encouraging packing guns, targeting immigrants, printing vouchers of taxpayer funds for private schools has gotten us where?
Arizona is no longer an attractive place to raise a family. It is a great place to retire, in fact of all the cities in the United States Tucson is one of the top ten best places for retirees. Low to no income tax, depressed housing prices, cheap labor if you need a little help, beautiful weather, great open space and you can visit home if it gets hot.
If it gets too hot for you, go see how the grandkids are doing at the schools back home. Don’t worry about the schools here, they are full of undocumented kids with parents on some kind of government dole, so we are told.
Want change, real change? See the need to turn this sorry mess of a state around? Then change course, admit we have been on the wrong track with what we have had in political leadership. Look at the competent, experienced, can-do type people under the banner of Democrats. This election every candidate listed as Democrat out-classes the Republican opponent, no question!
Ethan Orr can buy lots of signs with that Republican money, but pretending to be a moderate in Tucson and a go-along fellow in Phoenix playing games with the right-wing Republicans just doesn’t wash.
Solid legislative representation and leadership found in Representative Victoria Steele has demonstrated she deserves reward with our vote. To fill the second legislative seat in Legislative District 9, overwhelmingly Dr. Randy Friese should be our choice.
Let’s stop the ranting and pointing fingers, Governor Brewer. We admit, damn this hurts, Governor you got one thing right before you left the Governor’s Office by insisting Arizona join the Affordable Care Act and expand Medicaid/AHCCCS.
While most of the Republican party is still yelling and shouting down a sink hole caving in on all directions, “repeal Obamacare” thousands of Arizona citizens have hearth care. They still worry about getting sick, at least they can go to a doctor and not wait until they are so bad they show up at a hospital emergency room.
Repub Candidates will not talk about their gun violence policies. They still have to have a loop-hole so every deranged individual can buy assault weapons at “gun shows”. Why do republicans need 1,000 rounds of ammo and multiple guns just to go hunting? Our nations school children are being slaughtered. It is becoming a national health problem. Other educated nations have tough restrictions on who can buy a gun and they work. All the Repubs want to do is is court the NRA who will fund their campaigns and keep the gun industry in business. The NRA uses the fear tactic that the Dems will come and get your guns. How naive! This should not be a political matter. It is just common sense to set rules for gun owners to act responsibly!
BEN, No one can not tell me with age comes wisdom. I say this with respect, you must be one of those old retired folks who came to enjoy the weather and got caught in a nightmare of Republicans debating which gun will be the state symbol. You know symbols are created signs of the devil.
The only ones that will vote for Duval are the libtards, illegals and idiots. Oh, wait, I just repeated myself.
Cancel this show sucks in more ways than one.
