I personally don’t fully understand the musical sub-genre dubstep, but the insta-fame of dude-in-a-post-hardcore-band-turned-electronic-music-producer Skrillex* is particularly confusing to me. Not that my opinion matters to him or his fans, but once someone appears as a “featured artist” on a Korn record, I sort of tune out of whatever music they’re creating. However, with the helpful subtitles provided by YouTube user DubstepLyrics, his music all of a sudden makes sense. The part that goes “WEEEERRRGGGGHHH AHHHHHH”? Poetry, pure and simple.
* If your impulse is to send me an angry email telling me that “Skrillex isn’t dubstep”, save yourself the trouble. I DON’T CARE.

You said it yourself Dan, you don’t get it. That video is hilarious!
Awww, come on… Korn is good music! 🙂 Saw them when they were here with Disturbed. I don’t really get the whole Skrillex craze (for example, it seems to me like not a whole lot of musical talent is required. I allow for the possibility that I’m wrong), but I do like the sound. Don’t think I could go for an entire CD or concert of Skrillex’s stuff, and a lot of it I just don’t care for (like the song you’ve linked here), but as part of another song (like Korn’s) or in small doses, it’s rather interesting.
The video truly is awesome…. I don’t think the lyrics should be the main focus though Dan. I used to hate all of that techno stuff. But Dub-step, my friend, is the bees knees, if you don’t mind me going old school for a second. You need to sit yourself down in a car with a decent sounding system and drive around at night while blaring some good Dub-step. Try KXCI this Friday night after 8pm or preferably after 10pm. Just give it a shot! The spastic vibrating bass will work its way into your inner groove locker and bring forth a new found emotion of motion as it shakes free those mental cobwebs that inhibit neuronic sonoluminescence. It’s not about the words. It’s about the sound. Of. The. Words…..
its not lyrics, its sounds. I think its genius melody and the fact that there are no lyrics makes it unreal! no one can agree or disagree with what it says. Its something that sounds melodious and as powerful as lyrics but everyone can enjoy it cause pleasing not cause they agree with the lyrics
Yea OK no worse than Little Jon’s habitual use of the ebonic version of “OK” and Rebecca Blacks version of the days of the week. Music of todays is very dumbed down look who your dealing with, kids today cant even wear pants correctly because there are no directions.
To the Writer of this article skrillex is a dj (disc jockey) he doesent sing so he doesent have lyrics. he plays and mixes music that a lot of people have fun jammin to at clubs, partys, transformer conventions, or where ever theres a loud sound system. at least skrillex has made it big hes not even 25 what have you acomplished in your life? this is a pointless article because people like different things what crap do you listen to thats so much better?
I like electronic music and I like some DJs but I tend to dislike mash ups and mixes for the most part. Its like the ADD generation is now steering the ship and I just can’t follow their spasms. Just give me one good funky dance tune I can get into for at least a minute or two is that so hard to ask?
Go ahead and call me a dinosaur. a booty shaking nimble footed dinosaur.
